Fraud/Forgery
On August 22, 2023 at 4:26 PM police responded to 1359 Sater Street, Falcon Packaging, to speak with Stephanie Hubbard reference a check which was written by the company, and later altered and cashed by an unknown suspect. While speaking with Stephanie, she stated the company wrote a check to a vendor company, Expedite Logistical Services for an amount of $1910. Stephanie stated Expedite Logistical Services contacted them earlier this week stating they had not received payment in regards to the check that was sent. Stephanie stated she contacted the bank, BMO Harris Bank, who was able to provide her with a copy of the check which was cashed. Stephanie handed police a copy of the check, Check #135371, which appeared to be written out to Kim Mai. The address on the check for Kim Mai was 269 S. Mariposa Ave #102. Los Angeles, CA 90004. Stephanie stated the check was not originally written to this person and had been altered. Police was also able to view the back side of the check which showed it was deposited into SOFI Bank electronically on 07-25-2023. Police attempted to contact SOFI Bank to gain more information but was informed they would not share any information with the police reference this check. The PO also had Los Angeles Police Department check the listed residence on the check but they were unable to contact anyone. Police has exhausted all leads into this case and Stephanie has opened a claim with the company’s bank.
Domestic Violence
BCI Only. On August 23, 2023 at approximately 3:21 PM, police was dispatched to 708 Sweitzer Street on a domestic disturbance. The PO spoke with the complainant/victim, Kara McConnell. Kara advised that her live in boyfriend and the father to one of her children, Aloysious Chappie, had come home and started an argument with her. During the argument she advised that he became very agitated and began to destroy their shared property inside the listed residence. Kara was advised of the eviction process. Police was able to speak with Chappie, who advised the same accounts of the incident. Chappie gathered belongings and left for the evening. There was one school age child present at the time of the incident.
Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice
On August 24th, 2023, at approximately 1:59 PM, police was on routine patrol when the PO observed a silver Buick 4 door car bearing Ohio Registration JYG2284. PO ran the displayed license plate through LEADS/NCIC and found that it returned to a Pontiac and not a Buick. PO activated his overhead emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop for the violation in the 700 block of East Water Street. PO I made contact with the driver, Karlisa Ditty and her passenger, Courtney Wilkinson and advised them of his reason for stopping them. Karlisa advised that she just bought the vehicle and that the dealership said they would take care of updating the license plate. PO ran Courtney’s SSN through LEADS/NCIC via GPD dispatch and found that she had an active felony warrant for her arrest through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for a drug charge, no bond. The warrant was confirmed through GPD dispatch via LEADS/NCIC. Courtney was advised of her warrant and advised to step out of the vehicle which she complied. Courtney was arrested, placed in handcuffs and transported Courtney to the Darke County Jail where she was incarcerated for her warrant.
Disorderly Conduct/Domestic Violence
On August 24th 2023, at 5:56 PM police was dispatched to 304 Twelfth Street in reference to Carl Butts III and Kristin Wolford in a verbal argument about custody of the children. PO spoke with both Kristin and Carl. They advised the argument was about Kristin wanting to leave with the children and Carl wanting to take them on vacation to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Carl was advised that Kristin has custody of the children. Kristen and Carl live together and are the parents of the children. The subjects aren’t married and have no court custody. BCI only between the two subjects Kristin and the three children left for the evening staying with a friend. No school age children were present.
Breaking and Entering
On August 25, 2023 at approximately 1:21 PM police was dispatched to 401 Union Street; Dill Oil Company in reference to a report of a breaking and entering that occurred earlier in the week. PO spoke with the complainant/employee; Gina Sease who stated that on August 23, 2023 at approximately 03:00 AM someone tried to break into the store. Gina stated that she located a hole cut in the chain link fence that surrounds the entire rear of the store which prompted the review of the video surveillance that showed someone trying to break into the store. Gina showed police a video on her phone from video surveillance of the store that showed an unknown male suspect attempting to gain entrance to the store while it was closed. The suspect attempted to open a locked door located at the rear of the store as well as a window located on the East side of the store with an unknown tool. The suspect appears to have been wearing a mask as well as gloves during the time of the offense. The suspect was unsuccessful in gaining entrance into the store and can be seen leaving the area after the attempt on foot. The area surrounding the store was searched to find any evidence to help identify the suspect but no evidence was able to be located. The area surrounding the store is absent of any other houses or buildings to check to assist in identifying the suspect. The hole the suspect cut in the chain link fence is located on the West portion of the property near where the fence connects to the building. There were also visible tool marks left on the window that the suspect left when he tried to enter the store. Pictures were taken of the scene as well as of the damage to the property that will be scanned in and added to the report. Gina completed a witness statement and victim rights form that will be scanned in and added to the report. Gina stated that she had given the email that police provided her to the owner of the store so that he could send photographs and video footage of the suspect during the time of the attempted break in. Due to the quality of the footage and only being able to view it on a cellphone no further description of the suspect is possible at this time until the footage is received from the owner. A more detailed timeline of the event is also pending the video footage being received. At this time there are no suspects for the attempted break in. As of August 28, 2023 at 09:40 AM the pictures and video footage from the store still have not been sent. PO will continue to request the footage from the surveillance cameras and update this report when they are received or if any new information becomes available.
Assault
On August 25th, 2023 at approximately 10:47 PM police was waved down by Madalynn Buckingham in the parking lot of 716 Sweitzer street in reference to an assault. Madalynn was very upset and advised police that she needed help. Madalynn stated she had been attacked by Kara Mcconnell and another female that she could not identify. Madalynn stated that she needed to go to the hospital. PO could see that Madalynn’s eye was purple and nearly swollen shut. PO called for a squad to respond to the scene. Madalynn was having trouble standing up straight. Madalynn was having trouble remembering where she lived and what her birthday was. Madalynn stated that she went to 708 Sweitzer street to pick up her friend Chelsea Abney’s vehicle for her, due to Chelsea had been drinking. Madalynn stated that she arrived at the residence and got into the vehicle and started it. Madalynn stated Kara Mcconnell came out of the residence and grabbed her by the hair. Madalynn stated she saw another unknown female come out to the car just before Kara had pushed her head down into the passenger seat. Madalynn stated she started to receive several punches to her head from Kara. Madalynn stated she was able to get out of the vehicle and began to run away. Madalynn stated she heard what she believed to be Brandon Mcconnell yell at her stating “Try to call the Cops I have it all on Video”. Madalynn stated she saw the police pull the cruiser into the parking lot and she came and spoke to the PO. Madalynn stated that she did not know the second female involved but described her to have brown hair and to be wearing a gray T-Shirt. PO took photos of Madalynn’s injuries. Madalynn was transported to Wayne Emergency Room by squad. Police went to 708 Sweitzer Street to make contact with Kara and the other female involved. PO observed the vehicle that belonged to Chelsea in the driveway. PO observed several lawn chairs in the front yard and several empty Bud Light cans. PO walked up to the front door and could see that there was lights on in the residence. PO knocked on the door several times and was not able to make contact with anyone at the residence. Police went to Wayne Emergency room to speak with Madalynn. PO asked Madalynn why Chelsea did not go pick up the vehicle herself. Madalynn stated Chelsea had been drinking and had “Beef” with some of the people that were at the residence. Police asked Madalynn if she might be able to identify the second attacker if she saw a photo of them. Madalynn stated she may be able to identify the subject but the whole incident happened very quickly. Police went to 708 Sweitzer to make contact with any involved subjects at the residence. They were unable to make contact with anyone there. Police also took photos of the inside of the vehicle. Police went to 746 Central Avenue to get a witness statement from Chelsea. They did make contact with Chelsea. After speaking with Chelsea, police was going to bring a photo line up of possible suspects to see if Madalynn could identify anyone in the line up. The PO collected a statement and a victim’s rights form from Madalynn. Madalynn called Chelsea while PO was in the room. Chelsea stated that she received a message from Brandon that stated he had a video of the entire incident. PO asked Chelsea where Brandon was. Chelsea stated that Brandon was still at 708 Sweitzer Street but refused to speak to any officers. PO asked Madalynn if she had been in any altercations with Kara before this incident. Madalynn stated that she believed that Kara thought that she was trying to “get with” Brandon. Madalynn stated that she did not try to get with Brandon. PO asked Madalynn if this is why Kara attacked her. Madalynn stated she did not know. PO showed Madalynn 10 photos and Madalynn was unable to identify anyone in the photos as the second suspect. Madalynn consented to release to police her medical records from this incident. PO advised Madalynn to call if she had anymore issues with Kara and that PO would contact her when the investigation is complete.
Domestic Violence
On August 26, 2023 at approximately 10:56 AM police was dispatched to 304 Twelfth Street in reference to an instance of domestic violence. PO spoke with the complainant/involved person; Kristin Wolford who stated that she had been in an argument with the father of her children/ involved person; Carl Butts III. Kristin and Carl reside together at the residence and share children though they are not married. Both parties stated that the argument had been about child custody. It was reported to have only been a verbal argument with no physical contact being made. Kristin left the residence with her 3 children for the day. Carl was advised to contact his lawyer to arrange for a custody agreement. BCI only/ No school age children present.
Violating Protection Order
On August 26, 2023 at approximately 1:43 PM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street in reference to a report of a Civil Protection Order Violation. PO met with the victim/complainant, Dennis Riddle. Dennis advised me that he currently has a Temporary Protection order against his son, Mathew Riddle. Dennis advised that Mathew is currently at his residence, 327 West Water Street. Dennis advised that Mathew knocked on the door and when Dennis opened it Mathew then walked in. Dennis stated when Mathew walked in he threw a bag of groceries at him stating “here is your food”. Dennis stated that Mathew then went into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator door and just starred inside it for approximately five minutes before he shut the door. Dennis advised that Mathew then walked over to the knife drawer in the kitchen. Mathew then took out two kitchen knives, handing one to Dennis, saying he was going to play a game with him and that Dennis gets the first two stabs. Dennis then left the residence and came to Greenville PD where he reported this incident. Dennis advised that he did not call because he was scarred of what Mathew may do if he finds out he was talking to the police. Dennis advised that he currently had a Temporary Protection Order out against his son. PO was able to check with dispatch who confirmed that Dennis in fact did have an active TPO out against Mathew. Dennis was advised of the options with Mathew and that due to the violation of the protection order that he was going to be apprehended and taken to DCSO. Dennis advised that the front door to the residence was currently locked but gave permission to officers to enter if needed and gave PO the key to the front door. Officers were able to go down to the listed address where we located inside the residence. Mathew opened the front door and voluntarily came outside. He was advised of the violation and placed into handcuffs. Mathew was searched incident to arrest and transported to DCSO. Mathew was incarcerated at DCSO with no bond. Dennis filled out and completed a witness statement as well as completed and given his victims right information.
Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice
On August 27, 2023 at approximately 6:20 PM police observed a gray and red Chevy truck traveling North on Ludlow Street when it failed to signal a right turn onto East Main Street. PO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of East Main Street and Memorial Drive, and made contact with the driver, Tyrone Randall. PO was familiar with Tyrone and had prior knowledge that he had a Felony warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office for theft with no bond. Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and Tyrone was placed under arrest into handcuffs. During a search of Tyrone’s person, a counterfeit $100 bill was located in his wallet. Tyrone gave officers permission to seize the bill. Tyrone was then transported to the Darke County Jail where he was released to jail staff.
