Misc Complaint

On January 4, 2025, at approximately 11:38 AM police was dispatched to 301 Riffle Avenue in reference to a vehicle that was parked on the roadway and damaged at an unknown time during the previous 12 hours. PO made contact with Jason Miles who showed PO the damage to the front driver side quarter panel of his 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The damaged vehicle was parked on 12th Street facing east bound near the intersection of Riffle Avenue. The damage to the vehicle is a scuff mark on the front driver side quarter panel and the scuff mark appears to curve towards the front of the vehicle and away from the roadway. It is unclear if the damage was caused by another vehicle. Miles stated the vehicle was not damaged on the previous day when he left for work. PO photographed and measured the damage on the vehicle. I was unable to locate any witnesses or surveillance cameras in the area. No leads or suspects at this time. Case closed unless new leads become available.

Wanted Person

On January 7th 2025, at approximately 11:31 AM, a traffic stop was conducted near Fort Jefferson Avenue and Martz Street. The traffic stop led to a wanted subject being apprehended. PO observed a green Honda Accord bearing Indiana COQ861 traveling south bound on Chestnut Street near Fort Jefferson Avenue. When turning right off Chestnut Street the vehicle failed to stop prior to the stop bar and failed to use a turn signal. PO stopped the above vehicle near the intersection of Fort Jefferson Avenue and Martz Street. Upon making contact with the driver, PO observed heavy breathing causing his chest to puff out more than a usual behavior. The driver identified himself as Joseph Craft date of birth 8-8-1973. Joseph appeared too young to be born in 1973. Joseph stated he did not have his driver’s license with him. The passenger provided ID, identifying herself as Kelli Barnett. Upon further investigation, PO found a Joseph Craft Jr. date of birth 5-14-89 in Spillman and when checking that subject through LEADS/NCIC, PO discovered he had a warrant out of Preble County for failure to appear for a traffic offense. When asking Joseph again about his date of birth, he stated it 8-8-1973. PO then asked Joseph if his real birthday was in 1989, Joseph then admitted that his date of birth was 5-14-89 and admitted that he did not have a valid driver’s license and was suspended. It was at this time PO had Joseph step out of the vehicle, Joseph was placed under arrest for the warrant. Joseph was searched incident to arrest, and no contraband was found. Joseph was transported to Preble County Line where he was released to Eaton Police Department. The back seat of they cruiser was checked before and after transport and no contraband was found. Joseph was issued his copy of the citation for driving under suspension, he was advised of his mandatory court date.

Junk Vehicle

On January 8th, 2025 at approximately 10:58 AM police was dispatched to the 300 block of E Third Street in reference to a potential junk motor vehicle. PO observed a white 2006 Ford motor home parked in an area behind the residence of 315 E Third. PO made contact with the homeowner, Amanda Duncan, who advised the motor home belonged to Robert Barton and that he was currently not at the residence. PO observed the motor home to have numerous items laying around the vehicle, and appeared to not have been moved recently. It’s unknown at this time if the vehicle is actually inoperable. PO served Amanda with a notice to have the vehicle moved and advised her that it is her property so she also needed to make sure the vehicle gets moved. An email was sent to Safety Service Director Delk as well as the zoning officer.

Wanted Person

On January 9th 2025 at approximately 9:27 AM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street. Greenville PD in reference to a wanted subject turning himself in. Dispatch advised that Steven Karnhem had come to GPD to turn himself in for a jail commitment/warrant for child support from Darke County Juvenile Court. Dispatch confirmed the jail commitment/warrant with Juvenile Court. PO arrested Steven placing him in handcuffs. Steven was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was found. PO transported Steven to Darke County Jail where he was released to jail staff. The back seat of the cruiser was checked before and after transport and no contraband was found.

Wanted Person

On January 9th 2025 at approximately 10:47 AM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street, Greenville Police Department, in reference to a wanted subject. Dispatch advised Lindsey Gibson came to Greenville PD to turn herself in for a warrant. Dispatch Confirmed through LEADS/NCIC that Lindsey had a warrant out of Darke County Juvenile Court for child support. PO arrested Lindsey placing her in handcuffs. Linsey was searched incident to arrest, and no contraband was found. PO transported Lindsey to Darke County Jail where she was released to jail staff. PO checked his cruiser before and after transport and no contraband was found.
