Property Damage

On October 2, 2023 at approximately 12:48 PM police was dispatched to the Greenville City Street Department to speak with the complainant, Superintendent, Matt Myers in reference to damage that had been done to a light pole in front of the Darke County Court House. PO was advised that an out sources construction crew that was working for Arcon Construction named Meyers Restoration had been doing work on the Court House when an employee accidentally hit and knocked over a cast iron light pole that was on the sidewalk in front of the court house. Matt advised that the light pole belongs to the City of Greenville and costs approximately $14,000.00 to replace and would take up to six months to get. the light pole was brought back to the street department at 450 South Ohio Street, where PO was able to observe it to be broken in several places and unable to be fixed or re-installed. PO was able to speak with the foreman of Meyer Restoration, Caleb Lyons, who advised the PO that his employee, Cory Selsor, did in fact strike the light pole and knock it down while operating an Ultra Lift construction equipment. PO was also able to speak with Cory who advised that due to the angle that the JLG Ultra lift was sitting and the area of the court house that he was working on he was unable to visibly see the light pole while he was operating the lift and accidentally struck it knocking it down. Caleb advised that his boss and the owner of the company, Jeff Meyer, was aware of the situation and has or would be in contact with Matt Myers in order to get the damages taken care of. PO was able to obtain video and photographs of the incident via Darke County Courthouse surveillance video and photo’s that Matt Myer took of the damaged pole.

Traffic stop

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 1:19 PM police responded to the area of East Fifth Street and Ludlow Street reference a male subject who fled from officers on foot. Upon the PO’s arrival in the 400 block of East Fifth Street he located the male subject running across East Fifth Street. PO had his emergency lights activated in my marked cruiser. As PO pulled up the male subject later identified as Joseph Martin looked at PO and continued running towards the west side of 412 East Fifth Street. PO exited the cruiser and ordered Joseph to stop but he ignored the commands and attempted to climb over a wooden fence behind the residence. PO caught up closer to Joseph and drew his taser ordering Joseph to stop again and to get on the ground. Joseph eventually got down on the ground and placed his hands behind his back after failing several times to climb over the fence. At this time, another PO arrived on scene and police secured Joseph in handcuffs behind his back. Joseph was then read his miranda rights. The detective who initially tried stopping Joseph for a traffic violation confirmed his identity through Leads once Joseph provided police with his date of birth. Joseph stated that he did not have a license and just got out of prison a few months ago so he ran. PO transported Joseph to the Darke County jail where he was incarcerated.

Wanted person/Fugitive from Justice

On October 3, 2023 at approximately 2:26 hours, officers went to 209 East Main Street (Towne House) on a warrant check for Shawn Grant. Upon their arrival to room #115 of the listed address they located Grant inside the listed room. Grant was advised to step outside and was placed into handcuffs. It was known at the time that Grant had an active warrant out of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a probation violation on an original charge of possession of drugs. Grant was searched incident to arrest with no contraband being located. Dispatch was able to check and confirm through LEADS/NCIC of the active warrant. Grant was transported to the Darke County Jail where he is being held without bond.

Wanted person/Fugitive from Justice

On October 3rd, 2023 at approximately 9:58 PM police was dispatched to 835 Sweitzer Street in reference to a wanted person. PO made contact with a PO from Union City Police Department. The other PO had arrested a Russell Bolin on a Greenville Police Department Warrant for Theft. Russell had an injury on his foot. Russell was taken into the Wayne Emergency Room and was seen by medical staff. Russell was cleared to be discharged by medical staff. PO placed Russell in handcuffs. PO placed Russell in the back of cruiser and transported him to the Darke County Jail where he was released to Jail staff.

Domestic violence

On October 5th, 2023, Greenville Officers were dispatched to the area of Shawnee St. and Donald Dr., in the City of Greenville, on the report of a possible domestic between a male and a female walking. The complainant, who wished to remain anonymous, advised the male was pushing a stroller, and there was a female walking with him, and they appeared to be arguing. The Lt who arrived to the area first located the male and female on Shawnee St., near Hillview Street. When another PO arrived he was speaking with the female, Sarah Straw, who was visibly upset, crying. The Lt. advised when he pulled up it did appear as though there had been some type of argument going on because the male with the stroller, Garreth Turner, was walking ahead of Sarah, as if pulling away, and Sarah was crying. PO spoke to Sarah and she denied there being any kind of argument between her and Garreth, stating she was upset because of some depression issues she was having and stated she has an appointment in two days to get medication. PO spoke to Garreth who seemed visibly agitated and stated nothing had occurred between the two. PO looked into daughter who appeared healthy and well. BCI only.

Domestic violence

BCI only between Sherry Root and Robert Root. Sherry and Robert got in a verbal argument reference Sherry being intoxicated. Sherry and Hunter both reside at this address and are married. There was one school aged child present. Both Parties stayed at the residence.
