Assault

On 10-6-23 PO was assigned as the School Resource Officer at the Greenville K-8 building, 1111 N. Ohio St. At approximately 11:10 AM, PO was advised that an assault took place on the playground of the school. PO learned that a student punched another student in the back of the head several times causing him pain and a lump on his head. Upon watching the video from the school’s cameras, PO observed the aggressor following the other student near the game of football that was being played. He follows the other student for about 20 – 30 seconds. He grabbed the other student’s neck area or back of shirt then struck him with a closed fist to the back the head. The aggressor threw approximately 5 to 7 punches. The other student stated he was only struck twice in the head and completed a written statement. PO sat in on a conversation with Mr. Mortensen, 7th / 8th principal, the aggressor and his parents. The student admitted to the assault, stating the other student was name calling and that he had enough. He admitted that he has never informed school staff of this on going issue. After speaking with Tthe othern student’s guardian, she stated she wanted charges for the assault. The aggressor was issued a citation for assault and no photos were taken of the other student’s head due to poor visibility of the small lump. Asst. law director Chance Cox stated he does not need video at this time. Nothing further.

Death

On 10/10/23 at approximately 7:26 PM, GPD was requested to do a welfare check at 341 E. Main St. The welfare check was requested by Lynn Ross’ daughter, Lisa Robbins, at 341 E. Main Street. The check was requested on Lynn Ross because neither she nor her dog had been seen in some time. PO located Ross’ car in the detached garage where the overhead door was open. The driver’s window was down and a Lowe’s credit card was found on the driver’s floor. PO approached the front door and knocked but did not get an answer and PO could not hear or see the dog barking. PO is familiar with the dog due to a previous call at the neighbor’s residence. PO began looking in windows and observed a deceased person laying on the floor in the north Livingroom. Another PO and Joe VanVickle were dispatched and arrived and an investigation was started.

Vehicle Theft

On October 11, 2023 at approximately 4:59 AM police was dispatched to 116 Montgomery St. in reference of a stolen vehicle. PO spoke to victim Cameron Reed who advised someone took his truck without his permission. Cameron said his truck had been parked in front of his residence of 116 Montgomery around 8:30PM on the evening of 10-10-23. When he went outside the next morning 10-11-23 around 4:30 AM the truck was gone. Cameron said the truck was unlocked and the keys left inside in a small storage area. The registration for the truck is OH JSJ2330 which returns to a red 2006 GMC Sierra. The truck has a 8′ extended bed. The truck had a small dent on back bumper. The truck had a silver toolbox in it’s bed with tools inside. It was left with a half tank of gas. Cameron said no one else drives the truck and he did not give anyone permission to take the truck. The truck was entered into LEADS as a stolen vehicle.

Vehicle Theft

On October 11th 2023 at 10:28 AM police was dispatched to 1225 E. Russ Rd, SVG Chevrolet in reference to a motor vehicle theft. PO spoke with the dealer ship General Manager Chris Heidenerich. Chris stated that the listed 2006 gray Ford F-350 Pickup truck was stolen some time between 10/10/2023 6:00 PM and 10/11/2023 7:50 AM. Chris stated the gray Ford pickup truck was parked near the back of the business on the south east side of the property. Chris advised that he parks his personal vehicle near the same location of the gray Ford truck. He last saw the vehicle when leaving SVG around 6:00 PM yesterday. When coming into work on 10/11/2023 around 7:50 AM he noticed the gray Ford was no longer there, with several scuff marks on the pavement where the truck was. The 2006 Ford F-350 is a four door crew cab truck with a chrome front and rear bumper. The truck has an extended bed cap cover with the same color gray as the truck. The truck has tow mirrors, and chrome running boards on each side. The truck has minor rust on the passenger side rear wheel well. The truck had chrome wheels. the truck has five yellow caution lights on the top of the cabin near the front windshield. The truck did not have a license plate on the vehicle. SVG had possession of both set of keys inside of the building. The truck had approximately three quarters tank of fuel, showing 229 miles until empty on the dash. Chris stated that the truck was a trade in with no lien on the vehicle and the title was clear. When checking LEADS/NCIC the truck returns to Gary Stanley out of Bradford, Ohio. Chris stated that no one had permission to be driving the vehicle and he did not know who could have taken it. Chris advised that SVG did not have exterior cameras of their lot. After leaving SVG PO went to 1241 Russ Road, ACE Hardware. PO viewed their security footage for the stolen truck. The video shows at approximately 1:16 AM on 10/11/2023 the Ford, leaving the SVG parking lot entering ACE Hardware parking lot which are joined together. The Ford then leaves the ACE hardware parking lot turning eastbound on E. Russ Road towards N. Ohio St / U.S. route 127. Pictures were taken of the scuff marks on the pavement, and will be added to this report along with a picture of the gray pickup truck taken on 10/10/2023 by SVG staff. ACE hardware staff advised they will get the security footage on a flash drive for PO, it will be added to evidence when available. The listed gray 2006 Ford F-350 has been entered into LEADS/NCIC as stolen. There are no suspects at this time. PO will follow-up with this case when more evidence available.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On 10/11/23 at 11:00 PM, Greenville Rescue was dispatched to 203 Green St. on a 31 y/o male with trouble breathing. GPD had prior knowledge of an active arrest warrant for Richard Dircksen who resides at that address. Upon arrival, Dircksen was treated by Greenville Rescue and then transported to Wayne Healthcare E.R. Another PO rode in the medic. After Dircksen was medically cleared by the doctor, PO arrested him and transported him to the Darke Co. Jail without incident. The warrant was through our department for failure to appear at trial for DUS; Bond $275.
