Drugs
On October 14, 2023 at approximately 1:38 PM police was dispatched to 415 Wagner Avenue (Aldi) in reference to found property. PO met with the complainant/witness, Kimberly Land who was the manager on duty at the time of the property being located. Kim advised PO that a customer brought a small black Juicy Coutour coin purse to her that was located on the self bagging table stand on the south east side of the store. Kim advised she believed the purse contained marijuana based on the odor coming from the bag. PO was able to open the coin purse and observe a small plastic baggy containing a green leafy substance that had a strong odor of marijuana coming from it. PO was also able to observe a small plastic baggy containing four small white prescription pills identified as Alprazolam, two small green prescription pills identified as Clonazapram and a small plastic baggy containing a small amount of a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamines. PO was able to review video from the time frame PO was advised of by Kim. PO was not able to observe any individuals that could be definitively linked to the black coin purse. The black coin purse and its contents were taken back to Greenville PD and placed into property to be disposed.
Breaking and Entering
On October 15, 2023 at approximately 3:46 PM police was dispatched to 518 East Fourth Street in reference to an instance of breaking and entering to a garage. PO spoke with complainant/victim Amanda Bierly and victim Gary Hannan. They stated that on October 15, 2023 at approximately 3:30 PM Gary noticed one of the garage doors to their garage located at the rear of their residence near the alley appeared to have been pried open. Gary stated that when he entered the garage he found that it appeared someone had attempted to pry open the passenger door of the listed red 1997 Ford Mustang that was parked inside. The passenger door was damaged as a result of it being attempted to be pried open. The damage to the vehicle consisted of chips from the paint, scratch marks, and the door no longer being properly aligned. Gary also found that two brand new automotive batteries totaling approximately $300 and new black Dart engine machine heads totaling approximately $3000 had been stolen from inside his garage as well. Gary stated that no other items were missing from his garage though there were a large quantity of tools and other valuable items that were kept in the garage. Gary stated that the stolen Dart engine heads were specific to his vehicle and are only able to be used on vehicles similar to his. Gary stated he had parked the Ford Mustang in his garage on October 13, 2023 at approximately 4:00 PM and the theft occurred between then and when he noticed the garage door open then calling GPD. Gary stated that he did not know of anyone that might have committed the offense. Prior to police’s arrival Amanda and Gary had checked with neighbors around the residence but nobody had seen the incident occur. The area was checked for any cameras that might have caught the incident but none were able to be located. The damaged Mustang is not registered for the road due to it being a racecar though it has Ohio historical license plate attached to it. The Mustang is insured by State Farm Insurance Company. Pictures were taken of the scene and the damaged vehicle that will be attached to this report. Amanda completed a witness statement and victim rights form. The scene and the surrounding area were checked for evidence but no additional evidence was able to be located. It is unknown what was used by the suspect’s’ to force open the garage and cause damage to the listed mustang. At this time there are no suspects and there is no further follow up possible.
Burglary/Breaking & Entering
On October 16, 2023 at approximately 9:02 AM police was dispatched to 1120 Buckeye Drive in reference to a report of a burglary not in progress. PO met with the victim/complainant, Don Hope. Don advised PO that he just acquired the listed residence due to the passing of his aunt and he was fixing the property up in order to rent it out. Don advised when he had arrived at the residence on October 16, 2023 at approximately 8:30 AM, he observed all of his tools to have been taken from the garage and kitchen area of the home. Don advised that upon his arrival he did not notice anything out of the ordinary when he arrived on the listed date. PO observed the area and did not see any signs of forced entry into the listed residence. Don advised that he and his wife were last at the residence on Friday October 13, 2023 working on painting the walls in the kitchen. Don advised they left the residence at approximately 10:00 PM and he did not return till Monday October 16, 2023 at 8:30 AM, when he noticed items missing from the listed residence. Don advised that he found all of the doors and windows to the residence locked but advised that the side garage door does not secure very well. After speaking with Don it was found that he was missing a Green Ryobi cordless drill/with saw attachment and two 18 volt batteries valued at $400.00, a ten gallon Shop Vacuum unknown brand valued at $200.00, Miscellaneous tools and tool bag estimated value of the tools is $150.00, six foot blue and silver ladder valued at $100.00, a wall paper steamer valued at $68.00 and a set of curtains valued at $30.00. Don stated that he did not have anyone scheduled to do any work on the home over the weekend but did have contractors in over the first weekend of October to install flooring. According to Don the contractors who he knows personally were the only ones that he gave the combination to the key lock box to that was hanging on the southeast side door to the garage. Don was given and completed a witness statement form. He was also given a victim’s right card and advised of his rights as a victim. Don does not suspect the contractors and advised that he does not know who would have stolen his things and also advised no one else has a key to the residence. PO was able to take photographs of the residence. PO canvassed the area and was not able to locate any surveillance cameras around. PO was able to speak with Michael Jackson, who resides at 1100 Buckeye Drive. He advised that he did not see anything being taken from 1120 Buckeye Drive over the weekend but he did notice a white four door vehicle, possibly a small SUV or full size vehicle, in the driveway of 1120 Buckeye Drive on October 14, 2023 at approximately 10:00 PM. He advised he only noticed the vehicle due to there being a k-9 inside the vehicle that was barking. He did not wish to fill out a witness statement form at that time. Another PO was able to come to the scene and also take photographs and take finger prints from an interior glass sliding door located on the north east side on the residence and a fiber off of another sliding glass window. It is unknown at this time exactly how or where entry was made. There are currently no Leads or suspects in this case.
Domestic Violence
On October 17th, 2023 at approximately 7:55 PM police was dispatched to 205 Tillman Avenue in reference to a Domestic not in progress. PO made contact with Ashli Cunningham. Ashli stated her boyfriend Jeffrey Barrett had come home to the residence they share, around two hours ago from work and was angry. Ashli stated Jeffrey acts angry a lot. Ashli stated she advised Jeffrey their children and herself were going to be moving out because of his angry behavior. Ashli stated Jeffrey pushed her against a wall and pressed his closed fist up against her cheek and stated that he wanted to hit her in front of her two children. Ashli stated she felt threatened by Jeffrey’s actions. Ashli stated she turned her phone on record for her safety. Ashli stated Jeffrey asked her if she was recording. Ashli stated Jeffrey grabbed her phone and slammed it on the floor, causing the phone to shatter. Ashli stated after Jeffrey slammed her phone, he left the residence. Ashli showed PO the phone, the phone was a black smartphone, the phone was completely broken and would not turn on. After speaking to Ashli, PO returned to his cruiser and made contact with Jeffrey by phone. PO asked Jeffrey about this incident. Jeffrey advised that he had come home from work around 5:30 PM. Jeffrey advised he had gotten in an argument with Ashli because she accused him of not doing anything to help out around the house. Jeffrey stated he left when the argument began. Jeffrey advised when asked about the broken phone that he did break the phone out of anger. Jeffrey would not advise PO of his location. Jeffrey refused to fill out a statement or come to the Greenville Police Department to speak about the incident. After speaking to Jeffrey, PO provided Ashli with a statement and victim rights forms. After Ashli filled out the forms, PO left the scene.
DUI
On October 17th, 2023, at approximately 8:30 PM, police was advised of a traffic offense complaint in Darke County on State Route 571 and Hogpath Road. The complainant advised that a Maroon Chevy, JCY3389, had just traveled off the roadway, struck something; and continued west bound on State Route 571 towards Greenville. PO was able to locate that vehicle at approximately 8:40 PM on Martin Street near State Route 571. The vehicle continued westbound on Martin Street towards North Ohio Street. The complainant from the traffic offense, provided her name and phone number. There was also reason to believe an accident occurred and the subjects left the scene. A traffic stop was made on the listed vehicle. PO approached the vehicle and confirmed the operator of the vehicle to be John Harvey IV. The passenger in the vehicle was confirmed to be Ashley Parsons. During the traffic stop two Deputies arrived on scene to assist reference their report. Ashley admitted that she was the operator of the vehicle when it traveled off the roadway. PO was able to see mud and grass in the wheel rim of the front driver side tire. Ashley advised she does not have a license and was shook from the accident so she switched seats with John Harvey. While speaking with John he admitted that he did not have a valid license. PO advised John he would be receiving a citation for operating without a valid license. While writing John’s citation, a deputy advised that John was “nodding” off inside the vehicle. Another Deputy was then also requested at the scene for an open air sniff on the vehicle. He arrived and deployed his K9 partner, Bear. The result was a positive alert on the vehicle. While searching the vehicle PO located an unknown white powder substance in a ”fanny pack” that was on John’s person. Later John admitted that the substance was fentanyl. The substance was taken as evidence. Another Deputy was assisting in searching the vehicle and in Ashley’s purse he located a hypodermic syringe and a pink bottle of unknown liquid. Ashley later admitted that she used the need approximately 72 hours ago and the unknown liquid was hers for her needle. The unknown powder substance, syringe, and unknown liquid were later transported to the Greenville Police Department and placed into evidence. PO asked John when he used the fentanyl last and he advised in the morning, at the time of questioning it was approximately 9:15 PM. When PO asked John to be more specific he advised approximately 4 hours ago. PO confirmed with him that he woke up at approximately 5PM and that was morning for him; and he advised yes. Due to John possessing fentanyl, admitting to using fentanyl recently, and his behavior he was asked to submit to a set of standardized field sobriety tests, which he consented. During the horizontal gaze nystagmus test PO was able to confirm John’s pupils were extremely constricted. John also showed no signs of nystagmus at maximum deviation or prior to 45 degrees. John then performed the modified Romberg test in which John estimated 37 seconds as 30 actual seconds. During the test John had extreme eye lid flutters, and even though he thought he was closing his eyes they were actually about 50% open. Which would all be consistent with opiate use. PO also observed a lack of convergence in both eyes. John advised that he had weak knees when PO asked him to perform the walk/turn and one legged stand. John was unable to perform either of those tests. John also admitted that he should not have been driving due to his physical state. John was placed under arrest for operating under the influence and transported to the Greenville Police Department. John was mirandized and John was read the BMV 2255 form and was asked to give a chemical sample. John consented and provided a urine sample that will be sent to the lab for toxicology testing. This case will be sent to the Darke County Prosecutor’s office for review pending both lab results. Reference Darke County’s case, Ashley was cited and released form the scene. John was also released from the scene pending charges.
Drugs
On October 18th, 2023, at approximately 7:56 p.m. police observed a White 2006 Nissan Altima, Q766929, being operated south bound in the 1300 block of Sweitzer Street. PO confirmed through LEADS/NCIC that the registration to the listed vehicle was expired since 10/7/23. A traffic stop was made on the listed vehicle in the parking lot of 1361 Sweitzer Street. The operator was confirmed to Kyle Moore. Through LEADS/NCIC Kyle was confirmed to be under a driver’s license suspension through Indiana from 06/27/2015 to indefinite. Kyle is under three active suspensions. PO asked Kyle for consent to search the vehicle and he consented. The passenger was confirmed to be Amber Clark, who also consented to a search of her items. While searching the vehicle PO observed several unopened packages of Pokemon and Sports Collectable cards in the backseat. Amber admitted that she was the one who purchased the cards from Walmart several hours ago. Neither subject was able to provide a receipt for the purchased items and PO was familiar with these items being ideal in recent theft cases. PO spoke to Walmart Loss prevention who checked surveillance videos and the items were confirmed stolen. Kyle also admitted to possession a THC vape pen. Kyle advised he did not have a medical marijuana card. The THC Vape pen was disposed of and Kyle was given a warning. The vehicle was towed reference neither subject had a valid license. Also the vehicle was currently parked in a handicap spot at 1361 Sweitzer Street, and the vehicle had no registered handicap placard.
Theft
While searching a vehicle after a traffic stop on October 18th, 2023, at approximately 7:56 p.m. the PO observed several unopened packages of Pokemon and Sports Collectable cards in the backseat. The passenger Amber Clark admitted that she was the one who purchased the cards from Walmart several hours ago. Neither subject was able to provide a receipt for the purchased items and PO was familiar with these items being ideal in recent theft cases. PO spoke to Walmart Loss prevention who checked surveillance videos. Walmart advised they located Kyle and Amber in the store around 4:30 PM. Walmart advised the camera shows them selecting Pokemon Cards and Sports cards. When the subjects check out of the store there are no Pokemon Cards or Sports cards being paid for. On camera you can see Amber has a large black and gray purse with her in the store and it is full. While searching the car PO located the same purse which was completely empty. PO questioned Amber about the cards and she admitted to stealing them from Walmart. The total amount of all the cards stolen was $138. 66. These items were returned to Walmart and photos were taken. Amber was cited reference theft and Walmart provided all the victims rights paperwork.
