Shoplifting

On October 15, 2023 around 9:54 PM police was dispatched to Walmart, 1501 Wagner Ave, in Greenville in reference to a theft complaint. PO located the suspect now known to him as Brooke Goins, and Walmart Loss Prevention Officer Jodi Edger in the Loss Prevention Office inside Walmart. Jodi told PO she witnessed Brooke walking through Walmart in the baby aisle. Jodi witnessed Brooke selecting some baby lotion and Pull-ups diapers. Once Brooke had the items in hand she placed them in her purse, concealing them. Jodi followed Brooke to the woman’s clothing aisle. Jodi observed Brooke concealing a shirt in her purse as well. Brooke, with the concealed items in her purse, proceeded to the General Merchandise exit. Brooke exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items in her purse. Jodi stopped Brooke outside the store and brought her back into the loss prevention office where she contacted the Greenville PD. Brooke denied filling out a statement but admitted to Jodi, with PO present, that she had taken the diapers, baby wipes, and shirt. Brooke was issued a citation for theft. Jodi did not wish to have Brooke warned for criminal trespass. Jodi later wrote out a statement and provided PO with a DVD containing footage of this incident. The total amount of items stolen: $47.31. Jodi filled out a victims rights waiver form on behalf of Walmart.

Unruly Juvenile

On October 19, 2023 while assigned as the SRO at Greenville High School, PO was made aware of a student who was in possession of a nicotine vape pen. PO along with Chris Sykes, CT Director, located the student in class. They brought the student into the office in the CT building and asked him if he had anything he shouldn’t have on his person. He immediately pulled a nicotine vape from his pocket and handed it to PO. The vape was pink and white in color and was branded “Mr. Fog”. PO took possession of the vape as evidence and completed a misdemeanor citation reference the student, being a juvenile, in possession of a tobacco product. PO issued the student his copy and advised him Juvenile court would contact him and his mother with a court date. The student’s mother was also contacted by the school reference the citation and school discipline he received.

Domestic Violence

On October 22, 2023 at approximately 1:43 AM police responded to a complaint of domestic violence in the area of 109 Armstrong Street. PO spoke to complainant, Kendra Mead-Linder at 109 Armstrong Street. Kendra advised her daughter was inside their residence at 109 Armstrong Street when her daughter heard a male and female in a verbal argument in the alley between Armstrong Street and Cypress Street. Kendra did not witness the verbal argument. Kendra was advised by her daughter the male and female were in a verbal argument walking southbound in the alley. A search was conducted of the area for the unknown male and female. Contact was made at 110 Cypress Street with several subjects at a Halloween party. Officers were advised there was a verbal argument between Camron Marker and Jaylen Baker who were both at the party. Officers spoke to Jaylen who stated she and the father of her one month old baby, Carnron had gotten into a verbal argument and left the party to walk around the block. Both Carnron and Jaylen returned to the party at 110 Cypress Street after their walk. Officers observed several red marks on Jaylen’ s neck. Jaylen advised Carnron had left the party after they returned. Officers were given permission by the homeowner to search the residence for Carnron. Camron was located by Officers in an upstairs bedroom. Carnron was laying curled in a ball on the bed with the blankets over him. Carnron was advised several times to show his hands which Carnron failed to do. Officers detained Camron while conducting the investigation. Carnron denied leaving the party and going for a walk with Jaylen. Carnron stated he and Jaylen had gotten into a verbal argument but it never had gotten physical. Officers spoke to subjects that were in the residence and subjects stated they did not observe Camron and Jaylen in a physical altercation and they believed the argument was only verbal. Upon further examination of Jaylen’ s neck, it was discovered all the red marks and bruising were hickies and Carnron was released. Officers arranged for a subject at the residence to transport Carnron to his residence in New Paris. There were no children present. BCI only.

Domestic Violence

On October 22, 2023 at approximately 2:25 PM police was dispatched as an additional unit to 636 Martin Street in reference to an instance of domestic violence. PO observed another PO talking to the complainant/ involved person; Cheyenne Harter at the back of the residence. PO learned that Cheyenne had contacted the Police Department because she had gotten into a verbal argument with the father of her child/involved person, Dylan Smith about him not allowing her to take their child. Cheyenne and Dylan live together, share a child, have never been married, and don’t have a child custody agreement through the court. During the investigation police went around to the front of the residence to speak with Dylan. While one PO was advising Dylan of his options Cheyenne came to the front of the residence where she overheard Dylan speaking to the PO about the eviction process. Cheyenne became upset and attempted to disrupt the conversation at which point PO asked her to let them talk and began to lead her towards the back of the residence again. While speaking with Cheyenne she started to return to the front of the residence. PO began to ask Cheyenne to return to the back of the residence when she stated she was going to walk away from the residence and started traveling away from the residence. While walking away from the residence Cheyenne started to cross Martin Street but stopped in the eastbound lane as a white SUV traveled towards her. Cheyenne continued to stand in the lane as the SUV continued towards her without slowing down. The SUV swerved at the last instance narrowly missing Cheyenne. After Cheyenne was nearly struck by the SUV she was detained and placed into handcuffs. Greenville Rescue was requested to respond to the scene. Cheyenne was escorted back to the cruiser where she was checked for weapons in front of the cruiser camera before being placed in the back of the cruiser until Greenville Rescue responded. Upon their arrival Cheyenne was escorted to their ambulance and transported to Wayne ER for a mental health evaluation. Dylan was given a business card with this report number and advised of his options. Witness statement forms were given to Dylan as well as two additional witnesses to complete.

Domestic Violence

On October 22, 2023 at approximately 6:44 PM PO observed a verbal domestic between Stephanie and David Green near the intersection of East Main Street and Ludlow Street. Stephanie and David are married, have children, and reside together at 335 East Main Street. Both parties stated that they were in a verbal argument over Stephanie not being able to find her phone. Neither party had any injuries. David left for the night. As David was attempting to leave, Stephanie grabbed onto an open window on the car. PO then had to remove Stephanie’s hands from the window before David could leave. BCI only. No school age children present.

Domestic Violence

BCI only between brothers Austin Swartz and William Watts Jr. Both got into an argument in a vehicle while traveling to 899 North Ohio Street. Contact was made at this address and both parties separated for the night. No school aged children present during this incident.
