Drugs

On December 6th, 2023, at approximately 9:36 PM police observed a Silver 2000 Pontiac Grand Am being operated east bound on Martin Street near Integrity Way. PO observed the vehicle failed to have two headlights illuminated to the front of the vehicle. A traffic stop was made on the listed vehicle. PO I approached the vehicle and confirmed the operator of the vehicle to be Rodney Springer. Through LEADS/NCIC it was confirmed that Rodney was under a non-compliance driver’s license suspension from 04/22/2022 to indefinite. PO also confirmed the passenger in the vehicle to be Michael Bunger. During the course of the traffic stop PO requested a K9 at PO’s location. While writing the citation for Rodney reference driving under suspension, the Deputy arrived on scene with his K9 partner. K9 completed an open air sniff on the vehicle and the result was a positive alert. Rodney and Michael were asked to exit the vehicle. While conducting a probable cause search of the listed vehicle, PO located a clear glass vile in Michael’s backpack. The vile had white residue which may be consistent with Meth residue. PO also located a rolled marijuana “joint” near the driver seat. Nothing else was located inside the vehicle. Due to the additional evidence PO searched Michael and Rodney. PO located nothing further on Rodney and he advised the marijuana was his. Due to the new law not being in effect yet the marijuana was taken and disposed of. While searching Michael PO located a small baggie of an unknown substance underneath his phone case. Michael was mirandized and he admitted the substance was meth. Both subjects were released from the scene with a valid driver. Rodney was released with a copy of the citation reference DUS. The unknown substance was taken to the Greenville Police Department and placed into property. This case will be sent to the Darke County Prosecutor’s office pending lab results.

Assault

On December 8, 2023 at 2:09 AM police was dispatched to 835 Sweitzer Street, Wayne ER in reference to an assault. PO contacted the complainant/victim, Alexander Barnes. PO observed Alexander to have a swollen upper lip and dried blood on his lips. Alexander advised he was at a residence on Pine Street since 9PM on 12/7/23 with Nakysha Mcnutt. Alexander advised he and Nakaysha were discussing relationship problem’s when Nakaysha tried to get Alexander to use what he thought was drugs. He stated there was a platter with a white salt like substance on it. Alexander stated that he refused and Nakaysha punched him in the face. Alexander stated he then hit the platter onto the ground and Nakaysha grabbed the salt like substance from the floor and shoved her finger in his mouth, as if she were trying to make him ingest the substance. Alexander advised that Nakaysha then threw him around again and he ended up on the floor. Alexander advised he was able to get away and to his truck, then drove to the hospital. PO asked Alexander if he knew what kind of drugs was on the platter and he stated that he assumed meth and fentanyl. Alexander advised he wished to pursue charges against Nakaysha for assault. PO attempted to locate Nakaysha at the address described by Alexander, 517 Pine Street and was unsuccessful. At this time contact has not been able to be made with Nakaysha on this matter. Once located, Nakaysha will be issued a citation for assault. Alexander completed a written statement form, a victims rights form and a medical release form which will all be included with this report. Photographs of Alexander and his injury were also obtained and included with this report.

Traffic Offense

On December 8, 2023 at approximately 6:20 PM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street, Greenville Police Department in reference to a report of a vehicle not stopping for a stopped school bus that occurred on December 6, 2023. Through his investigation PO learned the complainant/driver; Michael Woody was stopped while traveling eastbound on East Water Street near Walnut Street in School Bus #4 on December 6, 2023 at approximately 2:53 PM. While Michael was stopped he activated the red lights as well as fully extended the stop sign of the bus in order to let children exit the bus. While stopped Michael observed the listed blue 2008 Jeep Liberty with Ohio license plate HFL5079 traveling westbound on East Water Street towards him. The blue Jeep proceeded to pass the stopped bus while its red lights were activated and its stop sign was fully extended while children were in the process of exiting the bus. While the blue Jeep was passing the stopped bus Michael used the horn from the bus to alert the driver but the vehicle continued to proceed past the bus without stopping. After using LEADS/NCIC to check the license plate it was found that the vehicle was registered to Mark Wright. A phone number was located in Spillman for Mark and he was contacted. When asked Mark stated that he owned the listed blue Jeep but had not been driving the vehicle during the incident. Mark stated that he believed that his son/defendant was the individual operating the vehicle at the time of the incident before handing the phone over to him. When asked about the incident Mark’s son admitted that he had been operating the vehicle at the time of the incident and had passed the stopped school bus. Mark’s son was advised that he was going to be issued a citation for the incident and agreed to meet at the Police Department to receive the citation. At approximately 9:15 PM the defendant arrived at the Police Department where he was issued his copy of the citation and advised of his mandatory court date. A DVD containing the video footage from Bus #4 showing the incident occur was placed into property as evidence. The report that was sent from the Greenville City Schools Transportation Department with the statement from Michael of the incident will be attached to this report.

Wanted Person

On December 9, 2023 around 6:46 AM police responded to 307 Oxford Dr apartment 202, in reference to a suicidal subject. Upon police’s arrival the subject in question, known to PO as Bryan Black, stated he was not suicidal. During our conversation Bryan stated Tyler Mayo was inside the residence. PO knew Bryan had an active bench warrant out of the Greenville Police Department for failing to comply with a disorderly conduct charge. PO then spoke to the resident, Brenda Black. Brenda advised Tyler wasn’t in the apartment but she would allow police to search. In the apartment PO also located Jodee Burns, who also stated Tyler was not at the apartment. During the search PO located Tyler hiding in a closet. Tyler was detained and handcuffed. The warrant was confirmed and Tyler was placed under arrest. Tyler was transported to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated with no bond, must serve 29 days.

Traffic Stop

On December 9, 2023 at approximately 11:28 PM police observed a gray Nissan bearing Ohio registration JWH7261 traveling East on Martin Street. PO checked the registration through LEADS/NCIC and learned that it belonged to a Dodge. PO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Ridge Summers. PO checked Ridge through LEADS/NCIC and learned that his drivers license was suspended. PO also checked the VIN on the vehicle and learned that it was registered to William Traux. Ridge stated that he recently bought the vehicle and never registered it in his name. The vehicle was parked in a no parking zone, and Ridge did not have anyone that could get the vehicle for him. Due to this the vehicle was towed by Hurds. Photos were taken and an inventory was done. Ridge was issued citations for Driving Under Suspension and Fictitious Plates.

Trespassing

On December 10, 2023 at approximately 1:28 PM police was dispatched to 307 Oxford Drive Apt. #202 in reference to a trespassing complaint. While enroute to the listed location it was advised by Dispatch that Bryan S. Black was currently at the listed address and also that he had been previously trespassed from the apartment complex on 12-09-2023. Police made contact with the victim/witness, Brenda Black who advised that her ex husband Bryan Black was currently in the upstairs portion of the apartment and was refusing to leave. PO made contact with Bryan and advised him to come down stairs. Bryan complied and met PO in the living room of the apartment. Bryan was asked by PO to walk out of the apartment as to which he complied and walked outside. He was asked if he would like to sit in the cruiser that was heated while we finish the investigation. Bryan complied and gave consent to search his person for any weapons or contraband. Bryan was searched with no contraband being located. Another PO was able to speak with Brenda while PO was with Bryan at the cruiser. Brenda advised that she wanted Bryan charged with Trespassing and that she was afraid for her safety and the safety of her children. She advised that no matter what is done Bryan continues to come back to the listed residence where he has been trespassed from previously. Brenda advised police that Bryan does not live there nor has he ever. Brenda was given and completed a witness statement form she was also given and completed a victim’s rights form and advised of her rights as a victim. PO was able to speak with Bryan who advised that he did know he was not supposed to be at the listed residence or apartment complex but he went there to see his son on his birthday due to Bryan always being incarcerated during the time of his son’s birthdays. Bryan was subsequently issued a citation for criminal trespassing and advised of his court date. He was given all necessary copies of his paperwork. Bryan was transported to Greenville PD with his belongings where he was able to make contact with someone to come and pick him up.
