Domestic Violence
On December 17, 2023 at approximately 1:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to 307 Oxford Drive #411 (Surrey Lane apartments) in reference to a third party call of a domestic disturbance. Upon officers arrival it was found that the victim/offender, Serenity Lear and boyfriend/father of her two twin juveniles, Eric King, were not at the listed apartment. Dispatch attempted to make contact with Serenity via telephone with a negative outcome. Brian Lear, the complainant, was able to make contact with Serenity who advised she was walking by Casey’s General Store (1250 Russ Road). Officers were able to respond to the area that was advised by Brian with a negative outcome on locating Serenity. PO was able to make contact with Serenity Via Telephone. Serenity advised that she was currently the Pak-a-Sak in Arcanum (3433 St. Rt. 49 S). She advised she was in a verbal disagreement with Eric but both parties decided to separate for the day and allow each other to “cool off”. PO was able to make contact with Darke County Sheriff Deputy DC25 who was able to respond to the listed location of St. Rt. 49 S. The deputy advised that Serenity did not have any signs of any physical altercation at that time and that Serenity checked ok. She advised Eric had taken their shared twin juveniles and went to Englewood to stay with his parents for the day. She was not able to provide a telephone number for Eric due to him not having a working cellular phone. She was advised that she would not be returning to the City of Greenville for a few days. Serenity was advised to call back if any future issues arise. There were no school age children present at the time of the incident. BCI only.
Domestic Violence
On December 17th, 2023 at 2:13 PM police was dispatched to 1218 Oaktree drive in reference to a domestic violence complaint. Dispatch advised a juvenile was punching his father. PO was lead through the house into a bedroom. Upon entering the bedroom PO observed whom he now knows to be the juvenile offender. He was doubled over crying and leaning into the victim, John Johnson. John asked me to get the juvenile off of him. The juvenile followed the PO’s orders and exited out of the front of the house with the PO without further incident. While speaking with the juvenile outside, another PO was inside speaking with John. The other PO came outside of the residence and advised that the juvenile was going to be placed under arrest. The juvenile was placed into handcuffs and then transported Eric to the Greenville Police Department. PO went in and spoke with the victim, John. While speaking with John PO observed him to have red marks on his face and neck area and had some blood on his cheek. John explained that he is the juvenile’s father and both reside at 1218 Oaktree Dr. John stated that he told his son to keep it down and the son started giving him attitude. John stated he told his son to give him his phone and he refused. John explained that he went into his son’s room to get the phone when his son attacked him. John explained he had to toss his son off of him and the juvenile struck the wall. John stated that he attempted to walk away but his son came after him continuing to hit him with closed fist in the face and head. John also stated his son grabbed him by his neck to try and control him. The juvenile did knowingly cause or attempt to cause harm to his father by striking him his face and head with a closed fist. The juvenile was issued his copy of his citation for domestic violence and transported to West Central Juvenile Detention Center by Mike Morris with Juvenile Probation. John gave a written witness statement and pictures were taken of his injuries. While taking pictures of John’s injuries, PO observed him to have blood on his teeth and he pulled his lip out and PO observed a cut on the inside of his lip. Two school aged children present. A check on John’s son showed there were no prior domestic charges.
Domestic Violence
BCI only between Carl Butts and Kristin Wolford. Butts and Wolford were in a verbal argument over who was going to take the children to school. Butts and Kristin both reside at the same address and have three children in common. No signs of any physical altercation. There were two school aged children present. The female half left the residence and took the children to school.
Trash/Dumping
On December 18, 2023 at approximately 4:00 PM police responded to 200 Harrison Avenue reference a trash complaint. PO observed a mattress in the side yard leaning up against the porch. PO contacted the property owner, Darren Bergman and advised him of the complaint. An email was sent to the Safety Service Director. PO will check back in 5 days to see if the mattress has been removed.
Child Abuse/Domestic Violence
On December 18, 2023 at approximately 5:54 PM police was dispatched to 307 Oxford #411 reference a possible verbal domestic in progress. PO knocked on the apartment door and heard a child ask “who is it”, PO replied it’s the police. CVl opened the door. PO asked her to get her mom or dad so he could talk to them. The CVl said her mom had left and was not home but she would get her dad. She went through the house calling for her dad. CV 1 left the front door open; PO stayed outside looking in. PO saw CV2 and CV3 laying in bassinets in the living room. They were both awake. CVl came back and said she could not find her dad anywhere in the apartment. PO asked dispatch to call both parents who were known to the PO. Their mother was Serenity Lear and their father was Erik King. A short time later Serenity returned to the residence frantic and crying saying “he left them alone”. After speaking with Serenity PO was advised she had left on foot to pick up a prescription at Wal-Greens with Erik staying at the residence. There had been an argument prior to her leaving in reference of who was going to get the prescription. Serenity said when she was on Wagner by Burger King she received texts from Erik saying he had found the keys and was on his way to Wal-Greens with the kids home alone. Serenity told him he was a horrible parent and he replied he was serious. Later in the texts Erik said he was not home anymore. Erik returned home a little later and PO spoke to him. He said he did leave the kids alone when he left to pick up a prescription. Erik said he thought Serenity was just downstairs and would go up to watch the kids after he left. PO asked Erik if he saw Serenity as he was leaving and he said he did not. PO charged Erik with endangering children. CVl was 2 years old and CV2 & CV3 were 7 months old. The CV’s were not old enough to be left alone for any amount of time and by leaving them alone Erik created a substantial risk of safety to them. PO contacted Kelly Rinderle from Children Protection Services and advised her of the incident. She asked that a copy of the report be sent to her and she would open a case. A copy of this report was sent to Children Protection Services.
Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice
On December 19th, 2023, at approximately 07:35 AM, PO observed the listed 2010 Chrysler 300 bearing Ohio Registration KFE7577 being operated southbound on Green Street and had stopped for a red light at the intersection of Green Street and Martin Street. PO observed that the vehicle failed to signal 100 feet prior to turning and waited until it was stopped at the light. PO also observed that both of the vehicle front tires were past the white stop bar. A traffic stop was conducted for the violations. ·Through the investigation, the driver was found to have an active felony warrant for his arrest.
Dog Bite
On December 19th 2023, at 4:10 PM police was dispatched to 703 East Fourth Street in reference to a dog bite. PO met with complainant/victim Bryce Robinson, who is the property manager for 703 East Fourth Street. Bryce stated while checking the outside of the residence for water leaks. A brown and white pit bull was on the front porch of the property on a leash attached to the house. While checking the house Bryce stated that the dog lunged at him biting him on the left forearm piercing his coat and breaking skin. PO observed the piercing area of the coat and 3 teeth marks on his left forearm. Only one of the three marks pierced the skin. Bryce denied any medical attention. PO spoke with dog owner Matthew Harrison who stated he secured the Pitbull inside the residence. Matthew was aware of the incident but did not see anything due to him being inside. The dog Warden responded on scene and took a separate report related to this incident. Bryce stated he did not want to press charges.
Assault
On 12/19/23 at 5:00 PM, PO responded to 403 1/2 N. Gray Ave. to speak with the resident, Keith Mitchell, regarding an assault. Mitchell and Sarah Fleming have been in an on-again off-again relationship for several years but have never been married nor have children in common. They currently do not reside together and Fleming has never lived at Mitchell’s apartment. Mitchell stated he was in his upstairs apartment when Fleming came upstairs into his apartment without knocking or announcing. Mitchell stated when Fleming came into his apartment, she handed him a small bag of his personal items that she had written “liar” on in marker. He stated she was yelling at him calling him “a liar, faggot, and queer” and then attacked him and started hitting him. PO saw that the recliner and a coffee table had been over turned and the rugs were in disarray. Mitchell had a cut on his lip but stated he did not want her charged but he wanted her trespassed from his residence. PO asked Mitchell how Fleming got into his apartment and he stated he accidentally left his keys in the door. He further stated that Fleming never just walks into his apartment without knocking and/or announcing. After leaving, PO went to Fleming’s residence at 510 Harrison Ave. to speak with her. PO noticed her car was not in the driveway and he didn’t get an answer at the door. PO cleared the call and would attempt to locate Fleming at a later time. At 5:27 PM, PO was dispatched to 510 Harrison Ave. on an assault. PO met with Fleming in the living room where she was sitting on the couch. Fleming had an ice pack on her left shin. She stated she had gone over to Mitchell’s house to return his personal items because she no longer wanted him at her house. She stated when she got to his apartment, the door was open and his key was in the lock. Fleming stated it was not uncommon for her to just walk into Mitchell’s apartment unannounced and she has done so approximately 4 times in the past month. She stated she went upstairs and returned his property at which time he began physically attacking her by punching her and pulling her hair. She stated he also struck her with his knee in the ribs and struck her lower leg with a sheathed sword. Fleming stated when she was able to get away, she went down the stairs and Mitchell then threw a spray paint can which struck her in the back of the head. Fleming stated she left in her car and made it about 2 blocks away and had to stop due to being in pain. She then called her pastor who came and transported her home. PO asked Fleming if she had a cell phone at the time and why she didn’t call us. She stated she did have a phone and she didn’t call the police because we “never do anything anyway”. Fleming was transported to Wayne Healthcare E. R. by Greenville Twp. Rescue. A Sgt. went to 403 1/2 N. Gray Ave. and spoke with Mitchell. Mitchell stated he did not want Fleming charged and would not write a statement. The Sgt. took photographs of the living room where this incident occurred. PO met Fleming at the hospital to obtain a statement since she stated she wanted charges filed against Mitchell. Fleming completed a written statement and was provided a victim’s rights card. PO also, in the presence of the doctor, took photographs of Fleming’s injuries which included a contusion to the right eye, a contusion approximately l” x 4″ on her left lower leg, a small contusion to her upper left back, 2 small scratches on her right side abdomen, and a small contusion on the knuckle of her right hand of her ring finger. After conferring with the Sgt., PO contacted Asst. Pros. Chance Cox regarding charges. After discussion, he requested that this report be emailed to him for review.
