Domestic Violence

On November 28, 2023 at approximately 4:58 AM, police was dispatched to 414 North Gray Avenue, apartment D, Greenville, Ohio, in reference to a domestic disturbance. PO found Kylie McCarty and Charles Newberry are residents of this apartment and are currently in a dating relationship. Throughout the evening of November 27, 2023 and the early morning hours of November 28, 2023, McCarty and Newberry have been verbally arguing over relationship issues and during the argument, Newberry had taken possession of McCarty’s cellular phone on several occasions, which upset McCarty. The verbal argument never escalated to physical violence and Newberry agreed to leave the residence for the remainder of the night/day. There are no children living at the residence. McCarty inquired about obtaining a CPO, in which, PO directed McCarty to seek legal counsel and/or contact the victim/witness coordinator at the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office. BCI only

Domestic Violence

On November 28, 2023 at approximately 6:04 PM police was dispatched to 404 North Gray Street in reference to an instance of domestic violence in progress. PO spoke with complainant/wife; Andrea Riffle who stated that involved person/husband; Joshua Riffle had pushed her during an argument. Andrea stated that she had not been injured when Joshua had pushed her. Joshua stated that she had been attempting to enter his room and he had pushed her out of his doorway so that he was able to close the door. Neither party wanted to file charges against each other. Witness statements and victim rights forms were left with both parties to complete if they changed their minds. Both parties refused to leave the residence for the evening. Joshua stated that he was going to keep separate from Andrea by staying in his room. BCI Only/4 School age children present.

Assault

On November 28, 2023 at approximately 5:48 PM police was dispatched to 609 Walnut Street Apartment #20 in reference to an instance of disorderly conduct. PO learned the defendant; Carla Wintrow had been involved in an argument that had only been verbal. During the interaction PO observed Carla drinking what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage consisting of a clear liquid contained in a small clear bottle. Carla also appeared to be intoxicated having slurred speech and with the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from her. Carla left the apartment as a result of the argument with her belongings. On November 28, 2023 at approximately 6:45 PM police was dispatched to 301 East Fifth Street in reference to a welfare check. The complainant advised an unknown subject was sitting in the grass of an open field. PO located Carla sitting in the open field crying. When Carla was asked if she was alright she was unable to make a coherent sentence and continued crying. When asked Carla acknowledged that she wanted to be seen by Greenville Rescue but would not state why other than needing to go to the hospital. Dispatch was contacted and had Greenville Rescue respond to the scene. While waiting for Greenville Rescue to arrive on scene Carla was checked for weapons with a gold and blue pocket knife as well as fingernail clippers being located on her person. While attempting to search Carla she was unable to stand on her own and had to be held in order not to fall to the ground as a result of her intoxication. The knife and fingernail clippers were taken to be placed into property since they were not able to be transported with Greenville Rescue. Carla was taken into the care of Greenville Rescue staff and transported to Wayne ER. On November 28, 2023 at approximately 7:21 hours police was dispatched to 835 Sweitzer Street; Wayne Healthcare ER in reference to Carla being disorderly. While responding hospital staff requested an emergency response due to Carla being combative with staff. PO observed Carla being restrained by several hospital emergency staff as well as hospital security. PO was advised by several hospital staff that Carla had attempted to strike, bite, and spit on hospital staff members as they were attempting to provide medical care. Victim/emergency service provider; Caitlin Newton had been struck several times in the abdomen with Carla’s foot causing her physical harm as she attempted to provide medical treatment. Caitlin completed a witness statement and victim rights form that will be attached to this report. Witness; Anthony Fletcher also completed a witness statement that will be attached to this report. Anthony is an employee with Greenville Township rescue. Carla was taken into custody and placed into handcuffs. While being placed in the back of the cruiser Carla used her bodyweight in such a way that required her to be carried from the hospital room to the cruiser. Once inside the cruiser Carla extended her legs in such a way that prevented the door being closed which resulted in her having to be pushed further into the cruiser. Carla was transported to the Darke County Jail and released into the custody of the jail staff. After jail staff took custody of Carla she continued to yell and make loud obscenities while also having to be assisted with walking by the jail staff. While Carla was being booked into the jail she vomited on the floor as a result of her intoxication. The knife and fingernail clippers that had been taken as property for safe keeping were given to jail staff with the rest of Carla’s property. Cruiser footage from the time of the arrest was burned onto a DVD and placed into property. Carla’s Assault on Caitlin enhances the offense to a fourth degree Felony as a result of Caitlin being an emergency service provider. The disorderly conduct offense enhances to a fourth degree misdemeanor as a result of Carla being persistently disorderly as well as having been committed in the presence of emergency staff at an emergency facility. There is no follow up needed at this time.

Vehicle Theft

On November 29th, 2023 police was dispatched to 614 E Fifth St in reference to a theft of a utility trailer. PO made contact with the complainant/victim Ronald Cook. Cook advised that his black utility trailer was stolen from his driveway on the rear of his property sometime between November 25th, 2023 and November 29th, 2023. Cook advised that it was the same trailer that was stolen roughly about a year ago. Cook advised the trailer had no distinguishing marks besides the drivers side tail light being broken. PO was able to locate the trailer in Spillman and it shows the license plate that belongs on it is SZM8351. Cook stated that he knew his neighbors to the rear of his property and he would have them check their cameras and contact PO. Cook advised that he did not give anyone permission to take or use the trailer. A statement form and victim’s rights form was completed. The trailer was entered into LEADS as stolen. Follow up will be done in case management.

Domestic Violence

On November 29, 2023 around 10:25 PM police was dispatched to 516 Wayne Ave on a report of a domestic dispute between a live in boyfriend, Dalton Dowler and girlfriend, Cheyene Howard. The two were in an argument over Cheyene wanting to go through Dalton’s phone. Dalton pushed Cheyene away after she got into his face. There were no marks on Cheyene and she did not seek charges. Dalton left for the night. BCI only. 2 School aged children present.

Domestic Violence

On November 30th 2023 at 10:25 PM police was dispatched to 746 Gardenwood Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. BCI only between Natasha Kenworthy and Devin Mize. Natasha and Devin reside together at 746 Gardenwood Drive. They have two children together a 3 year old and a 3 month old. Devin had left prior to officer arrival, Natasha stated that they were in a verbal argument due to Devin drinking and using drugs. Natasha stated that Devin is not staying there tonight and has plans to stay with family if Devin returns. There were no school age children present during this incident. Devin left for the night. Natasha will be staying at the residence with the two children.
