Traffic Stop

On May 25, 2024 at approximately 1:52 PM police observed a silver Lexus bearing Ohio registration HBF6875 traveling North on Wagner Avenue. PO checked the registration through LEADS/NCIC and learned that the license plate was not registered through the state of Ohio. PO initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Mohamed Ali. Dispatch checked the vehicles VIN through LEADS/NCIC and learned that it was last registered in 2017 through Ohio. The vehicle also had another registration sticker on the license plate belonging to Ohio registration JJB5944 which also did not belong to this vehicle. The vehicle was towed by Saunders Towing. An inventory of the vehicle was done and photos were taken. Mohamed was issued a traffic ticket for the expired registration and dropped off at 832 North Ohio street.

Theft (not in progress)

On May 25th, 2024 police was dispatched to 1501 Wagner Avenue, Walmart in reference to theft. PO made contact with the Walmart loss prevention employee, Jodi Edger and Suspect, Sandra Brown. Jodi advised she was walking around the store monitoring customers. Jodi advised she saw Sandra place the Cesar Dog food in her purse in the candle isle. Sandra continued through the store selecting other items and placing them into her cart and heading towards the registers. Jodi advised Sandra was at the self check-out and scanned all items at self check out in her cart except for the chicken nuggets and Cesar Dog food in her purse. Sandra walked past all points of sale and exited the store without paying for the listed items. Jodi stopped Sandra and requested her follow her back into her office and stayed with her there until POs arrival. PO asked Sandra why she stole the items. Sandra advised she was not thinking. Jodi advised all items were placed back on to the shelves except the chicken nuggets. The total amount of items stolen was $23.96 but only $12.44 was not able to be resold. PO advised Sandra to stay in the office with Jodi. When PO returned to Jodi’s office, Sandra was issued a copy of this citation and was advised of her court date. A statement form and victims rights form was collected from Jodi on behalf of Walmart. Jodi gave PO security camera footage of the theft as well.

Wanted Person

On May 27, 2024 at approximately 2:17 PM police observed Paul Brown Jr. riding a scooter near the intersection of Wayne Street and Union Street. PO had prior knowledge that Paul had a felony warrant for drug trafficking through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office with no bond. PO conducted a traffic stop and verified Paul’s identity. Dispatch confirmed the warrant, and Paul was placed under arrest into handcuffs. Paul was then transported to the Darke County Jail where he was released the jail staff.

Vandalism

On May 28, 2024. at approximately 9:49 AM police was dispatched to 805 Sater Street (Skate zone) referencing someone had spray painted the side of the building. PO spoke to Cheri Leonard who stated she owns the skate zone and wanted the paint documented. The paint damages consisted of a circle around an A. Cheri stated there are no cameras and the last time she noticed the paint was not there was on 05/26/24 at approximately 1:00 PM. Cheri advised she is going to get cameras for any future damages. Pictures were taken and will be attached to this report. There are no possible suspects at this time. Nothing further.

Wanted Person

On May 28, 2024 at approximately 11:34 AM police observed who PO identified as Chelsea Waldon and Dustin Burton walk into 503 East Third Street #2. PO had prior knowledge that Chelsea had a felony warrant through the Darke County Sheriffs Office for a Probation Violation on the original charge of drugs. PO made contact with the tenant, Elizabeth Garland. Elizabeth went inside and sent Chelsea out to speak to PO. PO made contact with Chelsea and verified her identity. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and Chelsea was placed under arrest into handcuffs. Chelsea was transported to the Darke County Jail where she was released to jail staff.

Domestic Dispute/Wanted Person

On May 30th, 2024 at approximately 11:03 PM police was dispatched to 209 East Main Street room 106 in reference a domestic dispute/wanted person. PO made contact with Jeffery Franklin who advised him and his live in girlfriend, Katelyn Miron were in a verbal argument over Katelyn texting someone on Facebook messenger. Jeffery stated it was only verbal argument between the two and nothing physical. PO spoke to Katelyn who advised the same story as Jeffery. Jeffery and Katelyn have one child together. PO had dispatch check Jeffery for warrants. It was discovered that Jeffery had a warrant out of Miami county for failure to appear on a traffic offense with no bond. Another PO placed Jeffery in handcuffs. PO searched Jeffery incident to arrest and no contraband was found. The warrant was confirmed through Miami County Sheriff’s office. Jeffery was transported to Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated until he is released to Miami County. BCI only between Jeffery and Katlyn. one school age child was present.
