Elizabeth advised she witnessed the suspect, known to police as Gage Bradburn, enter the store around 11:34 AM. Elizabeth advised she has known Gage since he was young and can easily recognize him. Danielle says she also knows Gage from seeing him previously. Gage walked right by both subjects and they noticed he was wearing a hooded long sleave shirt in the summer. According to them the shirt was flat against his chest and it appeared there were no items inside of it. Gage walked around the store for approximately 5 minutes before walking back up towards the front register. Gage was not pushing a cart or holding any items in his hands. Danielle looked up at Gage and could see his pants and hoodie pocket bulging with Laffy Taffy Gummies. Danielle told Gage to empty his pockets but he refused and continued towards the exit. This alerted Elizabeth who was standing right beside Danielle. Danielle also witnessed Gage with Laffy Taffy in his pockets. Gage refused to stop for Danielle or Elizabeth and past all points of purchase. Gage did not pay for the concealed items in his pockets and exited the store. Elizabeth showed police a video of the incident but it was inconclusive. You cannot see if Gage is leaving with items in his pockets or how bulky his hoody is. There was also no video evidence showing Gage pickup the Laffy Taffy. Police asked Elizabeth for the video but she was not able to get it to the police at that time and will have to figure out how to get it to the police later. Elizabeth also had an inaccurate count on her Laffy Taffy stock so she was unable to determine how much was taken until she does an inventory on June 22, 2023. Elizabeth and Danielle wrote out statements regarding this incident with Elizabeth filling out a victim’s rights form on behalf of Family Dollar. Elizabeth did want to have Gage charged and trespassed from the store. Gage was contacted over the phone. Gage denied taking items but did advise he was at the Family Dollar.
