Runaway Juvenile

On July 16th 2023 at 8:57 PM police was dispatched to 725 E Harmon Drive Greenville, OH 45331; Greenville City Park, in reference to a runaway juvenile. Another officer had already made contact with the complainant/mother Jessica Watts, and the father William Watts. Jessica advised that her daughter was at Greenville City Pool, with Radiant Light Church group, and was now missing. She had turned her phone off, which now Jessica was unable to track her through Life 360 app. Church group leader Marty McCabe stated that he last saw the juvenile around 6:30 PM. The Life 360 tracking app last showed the juvenile just east of the pool around 6:30 PM. A BOL was sent out to Darke County at 9:25PM. At 10:04 PM a Detective from Darke County Sheriffs Office, informed GPD dispatch that a female subject matching the juvenile’s description was spotted entering the residence at 405 Martin Street, with another juvenile around 8PM. At 10:14 hours, police made contact with Adam Rihm at 405 Martin Street. He stated that the two juveniles were at the residence and had just left. At 10:21PM a PO located the two juveniles together in the 500 block of Walnut Street. The female juvenile lied about her identity to the P.0. at first, then admitted she had runaway to get away from her father. She stated that William has never harmed her or hit her. Once the juvenile was identified, GPD dispatch was advised to cancel the BOL. The PO transported the juvenile to Greenville Police Department where she was released to her parents. Police escorted the male juvenile to 609 Walnut Street Apt. 14 where he was released to his mother.

Vandalism

On July 20, 2023 at approximately 3:20 PM police was dispatched to 1501 Wagner Avenue; Walmart in reference to vandalism to a vehicle. The complainant had to leave the scene where the vandalism took place so police met with her at 631 Wagner Avenue; Darke County Job and Family Services. Police spoke with the complainant/ victim; Teresa Maples who stated that while her white 2014 Ford Escape was parked in the parking lot of Walmart someone had broken the rear passenger side window. Teresa stated that before she left to go to Walmart that her window was intact and she had not heard any objects hit her vehicle on her trip to Walmart. Teresa stated that she was parked in row 6 of the Walmart parking lot between the times of approximately 2PM and 3:30PM. Teresa stated that she did not have any suspects who she thought might have wanted to break the window of her car. Pictures were taken of the damaged Ford Escape. Teresa completed a witness statement and victim rights form. Teresa was given this report number and advised to contact her insurance company. Video surveillance from Walmart was reviewed of the listed Ford Escape while it was parked. The video surveillance did not show any suspects that had damaged the vehicle while it was parked at Walmart. At this time there is no further follow up possible with no suspects, and it is unclear how the window was broken.

Vandalism

On July 21st, 2023, at approximately 7:56 PM police was dispatched to 1501 Wagner, Walmart. This was in reference to a theft/vandalism complaint. The complainant advised that a male subject was inside opening packages. The complainant advised that the male subject already left on foot but did not have any of the items with him. PoIice arrived in the area attempting to locate the subject matching the description. Police was unable to locate the subject so policewent to speak with the complainant, Jodi Edgar. Jodi, loss prevention employee, advised that a male subject entered into the store. They observed the male opening items so they started to watch him. The subject opened numerous items and also removed two spider-web security alarm devices from two other items. The subject was confronted and then left the store without any items. Jodi advised the approximate value of the security device that was damaged was $30. A statement and victims rights form was collected from Jodi. The identity of the subject is unknown at this time, but police believes the subject may have been with the subject arrested in another case. Police will attempt to obtain the identity of this subject before closing the case.

Shoplifting

On July 21, 2023 at approximately 7:00 PM police responded to 200 Lease Avenue; Kroger, reference a shoplifting complaint. While in route, dispatch advised that a manger at Kroger observed a female placing items into her purse while she was walking around. Dispatch advised that the subject was wearing a green shirt, black pants, and had short blonde hair that was spiked. Upon arrival police observed a subject matching that description walking out of the store pushing a shopping cart. Police also observed a Kroger employee following her attempting to speak to her. Police approached the subject and she identified herself as Shawn Neff. Police also identified the employee, Dakotah Bellville. Police advised Shawn of the complaint and asked her if she had any stolen property in her cart. Shawn admitted that she placed items in her purse as well as a reusable shopping bag that was in the cart, and did not scan them while she was checking out at the self checkout. Shawn was cooperative and allowed police to search her purse. Inside of her purse police located multiple cold meat items, as well as personal care items. Shawn admitted that she did not pay for these items. Shawn also advised she did not pay for the items in the listed re-usable bag. Inside of the bag was multiple other food and personal care items. Shawn was issued a citation for theft, and was warned for trespass. All of the stolen items were returned to the store. Dakotah scanned all of the stolen items, which totaled 27 items and a price of $165. 87. Dakotah stated that he followed Shawn around the store and observed her place multiple items in her purse. Dakotah stated he then observed her not scan multiple items before walking out of the store. Dakotah filled out a written statement and a victims rights form.

Pursuit

On July 22, 2023 around 4:34 AM police was dispatched to the Greenville City limits near State Route 118 and N Broadway St in reference a pursuit of a vehicle coming into town. When police arrived in the area police noticed the listed vehicle, a white 2017 Hyundai driving Southbound on N Broadway St with no headlights on. The listed vehicle was being chased by approximately 4 police cruisers. Police was informed by dispatch the suspects in the vehicle were wanted for breaking into a firearms store. Police activated the emergency lights and sirens and joined the pursuit at the end of the other police cruisers chasing the listed vehicle. Police witnessed the suspect vehicle turn eastbound onto E Russ Rd and reach a speed of approximately 70 mph, and eventually failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of E Russ Rd and Wagner Ave. The suspect vehicle went southbound on Wagner Ave reaching a speed of around 85 mph. The suspect vehicle made a left turn onto E Main St, traveled eastbound and reached a speed of around 50 mph. The suspect vehicle turned southbound onto N Ohio St and reached a speed of around 50 mph. The vehicle turned eastbound on Hickory Dr, then southbound on Circle Dr, westbound on Glenwood Dr before turning back northbound onto N Ohio St. The vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of Circle Dr and Glenwood Dr along with at Glenwood Dr and N Ohio St. The suspect vehicle continued on N Ohio St at approximately 50 mph before turning eastbound on E Main St. Soon after turning on E Main St the suspect vehicle turned back northbound on Circle Dr into the K-8 elementary school, where we reached a speed of approximately 80 mph. After circling back to the front of the parking lot the suspect vehicle turned Northbound on State Route 121 where police followed the suspect vehicle out of the city limits. Given the nature of the pursuit police decided to continue on since there was a high likelihood of firearms being in the vehicle. The pursuit continued into the county over the course of approximately 35.4 miles with it concluding in Pitsburg. In Pitsburg the suspect vehicle was lost for a few minutes but was located unoccupied on Warren St. After the vehicle was located the suspects were located in a soy bean field a few blocks south of the vehicle. The suspects were apprehended by Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies. It is unclear who the driver of the listed vehicle was at this time.

Noise Complaint

On July 23, 2023 at approximately 10:37AM police was dispatched to 290 Driftwood Drive in reference to noise complaint. Police recognized the address due to several calls the GPD received at the listed residence over the past year and was familiar with the resident of this address. It was also known that the resident, Henry Hine, had been warned in reference to the noise violation in the past. Upon arrival police was able to hear very loud audible music coming from the listed address. Police observed the address for several minutes from approximately 100 yards away inside the cruiser and was still able to hear the audible music coming from the listed address. Police was able to speak with dispatch who confirmed that Hine had been warned for the city ordinance 648.l0b in reference to the noise violation on 06/26/2022. Upon further investigation it was also found that within the past year the Greenville Police Department has received six calls in reference to the noise complaint with four being within the month of July 2023. Police exited the vehicle and was able to make contact with Hine at the listed residence. Police observed his eyes to be blood shoot and was able to smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He advised that he wanted to file a noise complaint in reference to all of the churches in Greenville playing loud gospel music and he also wanted to report all the individuals that mow their grass because that was also loud. Hine admitted to playing music from his stereo system in the front room of the listed residence but he strongly disagreed with the complaint. Subsequently Hine was issued a citation for the noise violation and advised of his court date. He was given all other necessary copies of his paperwork. Police was able to speak with the victim/complainant, Erika Smith who lives at 281 Driftwood Drive. Erika advised that Hine plays his music at extremely high volumes at all times of the day and night. She advised that it has become such an issue that she can not even speak on her cell phone outside her residence without there being background noise from the music coming from Hine’ s residence. She advised that it is a constant issue and a constant disruption to her and she is no longer comfortable being outside her residence to relax or inside her residence to watch television without having the noise/music from Hine’ s residence in the background. Erika was given and completed a witness statement form. She was also given and completed a Victim’s Rights form and advised of her rights.

Search Warrant/Trafficking in drugs

On July 25th, 2023, police prepared and presented a search warrant for the residence at 405 Central Avenue. The warrant was presented to Judge Monnin of the Darke County Municipal Court who signed the warrant. Officers then went to 405 Central Avenue. Once there, police was able to make contact with Daniel Alderman at the front door and he was taken into custody for the Trafficking charge on June 6th, 2023. Daniel was transported to the Darke County Jail by police officers. Also in the residence were Joshua Baker and Kiara Ham who were detained. Joshua was placed under arrest by Darke County Probation for a Probation Violation and was transported to the Darke County Jail by an Officer with Darke County Probation. Police deployed the K9 to do a sweep of the inside of the residence which he alerted to multiple areas of the residence.

Suicidal Threat

On July 25, 2023 at approximately 7:52 PM police responded to 323 East Fourth Street reference Alexis Wittman making suicidal threats. The complainant, Beth Vehre, advised that she received a call from Alexis. Alexis stated to her that she wanted to die and she was causing injuries to herself. Police made contact with Alexis at the front door. Alexis would not open the door all the way, but stated that she had intentionally cut herself with glass. Alexis stated that she also injured herself with a hammer and screwdriver. Alexis also stated that she was still working on it. Alexis then opened the door and police observed a gash to the top of Alexis’s foot that was actively bleeding. Alexis stated that it was from stabbing herself with the screwdriver and hammer and stated that she was trying to bleed out. Police then observed the hammer and screwdriver sitting on her nightstand. The screwdriver still had blood on it. Alexa also stated that she did these actions in attempts to harm herself. Due to Alexis’s statements and the police’s observations, she was transported by Greenville Rescue to Wayne Hospital where she was involuntarily admitted. Tri-County crisis was also notified of this incident. The complainant advised she was out of town for an extended amount of time but could fill out a statement when she returned if necessary.
