Susp Person
On August 12, 8:24 PM police was dispatched to 120 North Broadway Street (Sherwin William’s) on report of a suspicious person. PO came into contact with Clennie Manning. Manning was carrying what appeared to be a four foot landscaping stick wearing a black tank top and white shorts. Chief was also able to respond to the scene and advise that manning is a convicted felon and a suspect in several open cases through Darke County Sherriff office. For officer safety Manning was given a Terry Pat down for any weapons. Upon checking Manning a four inch silver and Gray Warner Putty-Knife was located on the right side of his body in his waste band. It was also found that Manning was concealing a six inch fixed blade black and silver steak knife in his waste band on the back side of his person. The putty-knife and the steak knife were removed from his person for officer safety. The Chief was able to make contact with County Prosecutor, James Bennet, who advised that Manning (being a convicted felon) was not permitted to carry a steak knife or the putty knife for the purpose of using them as a weapon for self defense. Manning was offered medical assistance due to him stating that he had a broken left hip and broken ribs. Manning refused any medical assistance and was transported to Greenville Pawn. The steak knife and the putty-knife were brought back to Greenville PD and placed into property as evidence.
Wanted Person
On August 13, 2024 at approximately 2:12 AM police responded to 5436 State Route 49; Stardust Motel room #118 to serve a misdemeanor warrant for Jake Angles. PO located, and positively identified, Jake outside of his motel room smoking a cigarette. Due to alerts in Spillman reference Jake being known to be armed, PO advised another P. 0. Archer before making contact with Jake. Upon the other P. 0.’s arrival, Jake was back inside room #118. PO knocked on the door and Jake answered. Upon asking him to step outside, he was placed under arrest and into handcuffs. Jake was then searched incident to arrest with nothing located. Dispatch confirmed the’ violation of a court order’ warrant, with no bond, through LEADS/NCIC with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. Jake was then transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office where he was released to jail staff, while awaiting extradition to Miami County.
Domestic
On August 13, 2024 at approximately 3:17PM, police was dispatched to 405 Martin Street in reference to a domestic complaint. PO made contact with both involved persons, Madison Pitman and Ryan Burgan. Both parties stated they got into a verbal altercation over Madison’s family. Ryan and Madison are currently boyfriend and girlfriend and live together at the listed address. Both parties denied any physical altercation. BCI Only. No school age children present.
Domestic (not in progress)
On August 13, 2024 at 3:24 PM police was dispatched to the 300 block of E. Main St. in reference to a domestic dispute. PO learned a verbal domestic incident had occurred. William and Tonja Weatherspoon, who are married and reside together were in a verbal argument. Tonja left prior to arrival. William was intoxicated by his own admission. William stayed at the residence. BCI only. No school age children present at time.
Vandalism
August 14, 2024 at 9:17 AM police was dispatched to 1000 Harrison Ave. in reference to two vehicles that were damaged. PO met and spoke with Jeff Dynes who stated that he last saw his business box truck and car in good condition on 8-13-24 at around 5PM. He stated he found the tires slashed on 8-14-24 at around 8AM. Cameras were located on the residence but are not operational. PO checked the surrounding residences and 1003 Central Ave. has cameras but do not cover Fair St., where the vehicles were parked. PO observed the passengers side tires of the box truck to have an approximate one inch stab mark. The drivers side front tire on the car had the same approximate one inch stab mark. Jeff Dynes stated that he could not think of anyone who would want to do this to him. He did not have any suspects in mind and neither did his mother, whose residence the vehicles are parked in front of. PO drove around the area to see if this was isolated to just Jeff’s vehicles. PO did not observe any other tires flat on any vehicles in the surrounding area. The victim stated the tires would cost him almost $1,000 to replace. No suspects at this time. Photos of the damage were taken and are included with this report. The victim already started to replace tires.
