Theft (catalytic converter)

February 7

On February 7, at approximately 4:32 PM police responded to 511 Spring Street reference a theft that occurred at 505 Wayne Street. The victim, William Wantz stated that he keeps his 2001 Dutchman motorhome in the lot at 505 Wayne Street, which is owned by Gregory Schmidt. William stated that he normally starts the motor home once a month and when he started it this time, he noticed that it was extremely loud. He checked and noticed the catalytic converter was missing. William stated that the last time that he checked the motorhome was some time in December 2022.

Theft

February 9

On February at approximately 8:18 PM, GPD was dispatched to Shoe Dept. 1355 Wagner Ave. on a theft complaint. Dispatch advised a male had left the store and they were checking to see if he actually had stolen anything. He was described as a tall, thin male wearing white shoes carrying a Tommy Hilfiger backpack. Dispatch also advised a female with blonde hair picked him up and possibly headed to Marshall’s and that he did steal a blue Nike backpack. Police did not see any occupied vehicles at Marshall’s. The male suspect who matched the description given by Shoe Dept. was located in front of Buffalo Wild Wings and he was advised of the complaint. He was carrying a white Marshall’s bag with a black winter hat for which he had a receipt. The suspect refused to give his name or DOB but allowed the police to search his Tommy Hilfiger backpack and person. Located in his inner jacket pockets were several winter hats and 3 or 4 belt all with tags still on them from Marshall’s for which he could not produce a receipt. The suspect finally gave the name “Dominick Durr” but would not give the police his DOB and became defensive. At that point, the police detained him in handcuffs and placed him in the patrol vehicle. A P.O. took the hats and belt back to Marshall’s and they confirmed they were theirs and had not been paid for. While in the store the police located the female with Durr, Alexandria Bashore. She was advised of the complaint and refused a consent search of her vehicle but said she would go look for the Nike backpack. She retrieved the blue Nike backpack which still had tags on it from Shoe Dept. Marshall’s did not want theft charges filed but wanted both subject issued no trespassing notices. Police transported Durr to Shoe Dept. and confirmed his identity through LEADS/NCIC. Shoe Dept. wanted Durr charged. They confirmed the Nike backpack was theirs. Police prepared a citation for theft and served it to Durr.

Domestic Dispute

February 11

On February 11, 2023 at 2:55PM, police was dispatched to 307 Oxford Dr. Apt. 411, in reference to a domestic dispute. The suspect Erik King answered the door and advised that he was having a verbal argument with Serenity Lear. Serenity advised that she got into an argument with Erik over spilled milk. She advised that she wanted to leave to go to her mothers for a while so Erik could calm down, but Erik became more upset and began calling her names. Then the argument became physical, leading to Erik punching Serenity in the head, causing her to fall to the ground and choking her after she stood back up and telling her that he was going to kill her. When Erik left, Serenity called her mother and complainant Jamie Lear who became worried and called the police. Erik returned and began punching Serenity again. Police observed Serenity had a small abrasion on the left side of her forehead and her right hand appeared to be swollen. She also advised her head was hurting. Greenville Township Rescue arrived and Serenity was treated on scene but she refused to be transported to Wayne Hospital at this time for further evaluation. Erik was arrested and transported to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated, with no bond. He was charged with felony domestic violence.

Domestic Complaint

February 12

On February 12, 2023 at approximately 12:16AM ploce was dispatched to 542 Wagner Avenue reference a domestic complaint. Dispatch explained that Shane Cheadle and Isaac Craiger were in a physical altercation. Dispatch then advised that Isaac had just left the residence. The police made contact with the complainant/victim Shane Cheadle. His nose was actively bleeding and was severely bent. Shane also had blood stains all over his arms and chest area and there was redness and scratches around Shane’s neck area. Shane and Isaac are in a relationship and both have been living together at the listed residence for several months. Shane explained that he and Isaac were at a pub earlier in the evening and that both he and Isaac were consuming alcohol there. Shane then advised that Isaac started to became aggressive towards staff members at the pub due to his intoxication level and they were asked to leave the bar by staff members. Back at their residence Isaac continued to be aggressive towards Shane. Shane called Isaac’s father to inform him of the situation. Isaac grew upset that Shane had called his father to inform him that they were arguing, walked up to Shane and kicked him the face. Isaac exited that residence and left on foot in a unknown direction. Greenville Township Rescue arrived on scene and treated Shane.

Welfare Check

February 12

On February at approximately 7:37PM, the Greenville Police Dept. was dispatched to 524 Gray Ave. on a welfare check. A caller from out of state advised dispatch that she was messaging 84 y/o Wanda Buckley and that Wanda stated she needed help. The P.O. could observe an elderly person laying in a hospital bed and that the person was breathing but was not responding to the P.O.’s banging on the window. The P.O. could see a bicycle inside the house which made him to believe someone else may also be there. Greenville Fire and Rescue were called to assist. GFD was attempting to breach the front door when a male started yelling from inside that he would open the door but was unable to due to it already being partially forced, so GFD completed the breach. Police explained to the male, Wanda Buckley’s son Joseph “Tom” Buckley, the reason for being there and why they had to force the door open. Tom stated he had been upstairs watching the super bowl and fell asleep. Wanda denied treatment stating she was fine.
