Theft / Shoplifting

January 23

On January 23, 2023 around 2:02PM P.O. Smith was dispatched to Walmart, 1501 Wagner Ave, in reference to a theft that had taken place there. Prior to his arrival he was told by dispatch that Loss Prevention Officer, Jodi Edger had escorted the suspect back into the security office of the store. The defendant Myrtle Jane Cox stated she took the items for her brothers birthday. At this point Jodi interjected and said most of the items were makeup. Myrtle admitted to taking the items from the store by placing them in her purse and leaving the store. Jodi had noticed Myrtle in the store prior to this incident and believed she was stealing items. Myrtle selected some items, placing them beside her purse. Myrtle then moved to the cosmetic section where she did the same. Myrtle changes aisles where she then proceeds to conceal the items under her sweater. At a certain point Myrtle reaches under her sweater and places the items into her purse. Myrtle then leaves the store passing all points of purchase without making any attempt to purchase the items concealed in her purse or render payment. The taken items were $177.27. Myrtle was trespassed from the property and a warning was entered. Myrtle was issued a citation for theft and later released to her friend, Joyce Crawford.

Vandalism

January 19

On January 19 at app 10:28AM P.O. Ganiron was dispatched to Towne Motel at 209 E Main St. for a report of criminal damage. The complainant/victim informed P.O. Ganiron that her ex-boyfriend Jessie Neal had damaged her vehicle after an argument they had the day prior. P.O. Ganiron verified that the damaged vehicle was registered to the victim. All four tires of the vehicle were punctured resulting in them deflating. Video footage from the motel confirmed that the offender who P.O. Smith is familiar with had damaged the vehicle’s tires on January 18 at 5:39PM. Attempted contact was made to the offender on January 19 and a message was left. There were multiple attempts to contact the offender in person and per phone. On January 23 at approximately 11:45AM P.O. Ganiron made contact with the offender and agreed to meet but informed P.O. Ganiron that he was staying in New Castle, OH with a friend named Blaine, but didn’t know his last name or the address of the residence. The offender will be served his citation when located.

Counterfeiting/Forgery

January 24

On January 24, 2023 at approximately 08:34AM, P.O. Archer was dispatched to 690 Wagner Avenue (Greenville Federal Bank) in reference to the bank having possible counterfeit money. Upon his arrival he met with the witness and bank manager, Corey Eagle. Corey advised him that they had paper dollar bills they believed to be counterfeit. Corey advised that the bills came from various business deposits ranging in time from approximately eight months ago and from various businesses across the county. Upon further inspection of a five, ten and twenty dollar bills it was found that both had FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY typed on them and the bills did not show any water markings or magnetic stripping on the bills. The counterfeit money was taken back to Greenville PD were it was photographed and placed into property as evidence. P.O. Archer was able to speak with the Dayton, Ohio Branch of the Secret Service, who was able to advise him that the other bills in question ( a one, twenty, fifty and one hundred Dollar bill) were found to be real currency. Those bills were brought back to Greenville Federal and custody was given back over to Corey Eagle.

Welfare Check

January 23

On January 23, 2023 around 12:23PM P.O. Smith was dispatched to Hunter Oak Apartment D8 in reference to a welfare check. Upon his arrival he spoke to the apartment manager, Tisha Jones. Tisha advised she wanted a welfare check done on the tenant at apartment D8, Cale Brame. Tisha believed Cale had Covid due to a note being left on the door indicating someone inside had Covid. The apartment was found to be unlocked. After knocking and identifying himself as the Police, there was still no answer. P.O. Smith was told by the apartment manager that someone had seen him around January 17, 2023. P.O. Smith made entry into the residence and no one was located. Given the state of the apartment it appeared the resident had moved out. On January 25, 2023 Nathan Mancillas, who is a friend of Cale’s, wanted to report him missing. Detective Wolfe, Detective Dickmann, and P.o. Smith went back down to the apartment and verified the apartment was still empty. P.O. Smith spoke to a neighbor who advised Cale moved to Texas about 2 weeks prior. Sgt Boyer was able to contact Cale over Facetime and confirmed Cale to not be in any danger and okay. Cale informed Sgt. Boyer that he wanted to get away from issues he had here in Ohio and decided to move away with other friends. No further action is necessary.

Warrant / Fugitive from Justice

January 26

On January 26 at approximately 12:40AM P.O. Conley observed a subject, who he identified as Jodee Burns exiting a vehicle in the driveway at 51 Winter Drive. P.O. Conley had prior knowledge that Jodee had a warrant for her arrest through the Darke County Sheriffs Office for a probation violation on the original charge of possession of Methamphetamine, with no bond. He approached Jodee and placed her under arrest. Dispatch confirmed the warrant. Jodee was transported to the Darke County Jail where se was released to jail staff.

Domestic Violence

January 23

On January 23 at approximately 4:30PM P.O. Santo was dispatched to 710 Gray Ave in reference to an harassment by txt call. The complainant Jenna Burk informed him that her Husband, Dustin Burk, had made a threatening phone call, which was recorded by Jenna on her Laptop. In the phone call recording you can hear Dustin stating “I promise you I will beat the fuck out of you myself and I will serve the prison time”. P.O. Santo was informed by Jenna that Dustin has been living at the residence until the morning of January 23.Jenna expressed that she did not feel safe in her home and she knows he is capable of following through on the threats. After doing a CCH check of the defendant it was discovered the defendant has no prior domestic violence charges. The defendant was not located. He will be charged with domestic violence.

January 26

On January 26 at approximately 11:17AM P.O. Ganiron was dispatched to 236 West Fourth Street, Apt. A reference a Domestic Violence in progress. Upon his arrival he observed the defendant Matthew Cain and the complainant/victim Chasity Lynch in a verbal argument outside the apartment. The defendant and the victim were separated, with Sgt. Boyer going inside the apartment to speak with the defendant while P.O. Ganiron spoke with the victim in the hall. They were being identified as husband and wife, living together in the apartment for approximately a week. The victim stated that they were having an argument over something that was said about the defendant’s mother at which time she started collecting her belongings. During the argument the victim stated that the defendant put his arm around her neck placing her in a chokehold resulting in one of her earrings becoming dislodged and injury to her throat area. When the victim called the PD, she stated that the defendant scratched his own neck stating that if he was getting in trouble so was she. P.O. Ganiron observed that the victim was missing an earring and had a slight red mark on the right side of her neck/throat. She also had a scratch that was located on her left hand. The victim denied medical attention. While speaking with Sgt. Boyer the defendant stated that he had gotten into an altercation with the victim over wanting her to gather her possessions and leave the apartment. The defendant had stated for Sgt. Boyer to look at his neck but did not state that the victim assaulted him. The defendant’s neck had red with faint scratch marks that appeared to have been self inflicted. A CCH was ran on the defendant through dispatch via LEADS showing that he had a prior conviction of Domestic Violence on July 30, 2010. The defendant was arrested and transported by P.O. Daugherty to the Darke County jail with no bond.
