Theft
January 4
GPD responded at 6:47 PM to a theft that occurred in Greenville. The officer spoke to the complainant and victim Pierreana Williams. The victim stated that she is in the process of moving into 416 West Fourth Street. The victim stated that one of the items that she moved was a black American Tactical Omni Max AR-15 style gun with serial number NS355821. The victim stated that the last time that she saw the gun was on 12/30/22 at approximately 8 PM. The victim stated that the gun was in a basket in the kitchen. The victim stated that her boyfriend, Jerry Desca was also with her and helped her move the items. The victim stated that on 1/1/23 her god-mother, Regena Barnes, went to the house to move a washer and dryer. The victim stated that Regena told her that the gun was still there when she left. The victim stated that she then returned to the house at approximately 6 PM hours on January 4th and noticed that the gun was missing. The victim stated that there are no cameras in the house that would have captured the incident. The victim also stated that Regena was the only other person that had the key code to get into the house, and that nobody else was at the house while she was gone. The victim filled out a victims rights form and a statement regarding this incident. The weapon does not have any distinguishing marks or any additional accessories. The gun had a 30 round magazine and was fully loaded. It was also entered into LEADS/NCIC as stolen. The officer also spoke to Regena reference the weapon. Regena stated that she was there on Sunday to watch a moving company install a washer and dryer. Neither Pierreana or Regena could recall the name of the moving company. Regena stated that she did not take the gun, and that she did not see the gun while she was at the house. Regena stated that she has not been back to the house because the victim stated that she did not want her around the kids. Photos of the gun were provided and filed. None of the houses surrounding 416 West Fourth Street have any cameras, and the victim stated that there were no signs of forced entry into the house.
Drug/DUI
January 6
GPD responded at 4:18 PM to 1301 Wagner Avenue, McDonald’s, reference a subject passed out in a vehicle. The officer observed a Maroon Dodge truck parked in the second parking spot from the south entrance into the parking lot. Upon approaching the truck, he observed it to still be running, and a female, later identified as Michelle Mendenhall, passed out in the drivers seat. He also observed a marijuana pipe sitting on the center console in plain view. P.O. Barton knocked on the drivers side window to wake Michelle. Michelle stated that the marijuana pipe was her friends and that she was waiting for the friend to return. P.O. Conley then had Michelle step out of the vehicle. While speaking to Michelle outside of the vehicle, she threw a blue pill out of her pocket, onto the ground. Michelle was then detained in handcuffs that were gap checked and double locked, and her Miranda warnings wer read to her, which she stated that she understood. Michelle was then searched by P.O. Barton. Michelle stated that the pill was an Aleve and she was taking them for a toothache that she has been having. Michelle also admitted to smoking a “bowl” of marijuana and admitted that the marijuana pipe was hers. Michelle was then placed into the backseat of cruiser, while the vehicle was searched. During the search, several other pills were located. Also located was a bag of a green leafy substance, that Michelle stated was marijuana, rolling papers, and several cut straws. On Michelle’s phone, which was on the drivers side floorboard, unlocked, P.O. Conley observed her to be messaging a subject that was in her contacts as Crystal Meth. There was also unburnt green leafy substance that Michelle stated was marijuana. The suspected marijuana and marijuana pipe will be placed into property as evidence, as well as the Levetiracetam tablets. The rolling papers, Aleve, and cut straws will be disposed of. Due to Michelle admitting to smoking Marijuana, her being passed out behind the wheel, and also the fact that the vehicle was parked outside of the marked parking spot lines, she was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety testing, which she consented to and failed. Michelle was placed under arrest in handcuffs that were gap checked and double locked, and transported to the Greenville Police Department.
Welfare Check
January 8
GPD was dispatched at 12:23 AM to 214 Euclid Avenue reference a welfare check. Prior to the P.O.’s arrival dispatch advised that the complaint stated that Chelsia Wintrow was at Tolly’s Bar and she may have possibly left her children alone inside of the residence. The complaint advised that Chelsia has two children with one child being 5 years old and the other being 8 years old. The complaint advised that Chelsia has left her children alone inside of the residence before. Upon P.O.’s arrival P.O. Robbins knocked on the front door to the residence which was locked. He could hear a T.V. on inside of the residence. He continued to knock on the front door and then used a door bell located next to the front in an attempt to get an answer at the front door for several minutes. He then looked through the front window of the residence and I could visualize a young child that was sleeping on the couch inside of the living room. Dispatch attempted to call Chelsia’s cellphone but got no answer. Dispatch then telephoned Tolly’s bar. Dispatch made contact with an employee at Tolly’s and they advised that a female matching Chelsia’s description had left just left the bar with a unknown male subject. A male subject approached the P.O. and identified himself as Andrew Godwin. Andrew stated that he had drove his pickup truck over to the residence to check on Chelsia. He stated that Chelsia had called him because someone was knocking on her front door and she had asked him to come check on her. P.O. Robbins then stated to Andrew to have Chelsia come to the door so he could check on the welfare of the children inside of the residence. Andrew called Chelsia using his cellphone and she stated to him that she was going to bed and wasn’t coming to the door. The P.O. then asked Andrew where he parked his truck and he advised that he parked it behind the residence near the ally. The P.O. walked back to the ally and noticed a red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the yard of the residence just off the ally. P.O. Robbins noticed that there was a female subject inside of the pickup truck. The pickup truck had it’s headlights on and it was still running. The P.O. then made contact with Chelsia who was sitting in the driver’s seat inside of the running pickup truck. He had Chelsia shut the pickup truck off and she rolled down her window. As Chelsia rolled down her window the P.O. could immediately smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath and her speech was slurred and that both of her eyes were glossy. The P.O. asked Chelsia if there was an adult with the children inside of the residence. Chelsia then stated that there was no children inside of the residence. She stated that the children were with the Grandma and Grandpa. P.O. Robbins also noticed that there was three plastic cups filled with a unknown brown liquid. The P.O. then had Chelsia exit the vehicle. When Chelsea exited the vehicle she began to stumble and it was difficult for her to keep her balance. When asked if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages, she stated that she had consumed two drinks. The P.O. then asked Chelsia if she was willing to submit to a series of field sobriety test which she consented to, but failed. Chelsia then stated that she had to go to the bathroom and began to walk away from the scene. P.O. Robbins then placed Chelsia into handcuffs she then was then read her Miranda warning. Chelsia was transported to the Greenville Police Department, where she was read and shown the BMV 2255 form which was witnessed by P.O. Kiryluk. I then asked Chelsia if she was willing to submit to a breath alcohol analysis which she refused. Chelsia was issued a citation for physical control and then released to Trevor Keiser in the Greenville Police Department’s lobby. As P.O. Robbins was with Chelsia at the Greenville Police Department Sgt. Prickett made entry into the residence with Andrew Godwin. Sgt. Prickett noticed that no adult was with the children inside of the residence but that the children checked okay. Trevor Keiser then arrived at the residence with Chelsia. GPD will attempt to make contact with Tolly’s bar for video surveillance for possible Child Endangerment charges for Chelsia. The report will be forwarded to the Darke County Children’s Services.
Suicide attempt
January 8
GPD was dispatched at 6:30 PM to 1108 Harrison Avenue in reference to a suicide attempt. Upon arrival the P.O. made contact with the complainant, Ginger Aldora, who escorted him into the kitchen of the residence. Upon entering the kitchen P.O. Santo observed a subject known as Logan Aldora laying on the floor unconscious with cut marks on his stomach, wrist , and neck. Ginger informed the P.O. he had taken three bottles of his prescribed medication. The P.O. then called out to Logan and performed a sternum rub, which Logan did not respond to. P.O. Santo then found Logans pulse and observed shallow breathing at which time the Greenville Township Rescue arrived on scene and assumed medical interventions. The P.O. then observed three empty bottles of Hydroxyzine, Celexa, and Omeprazole. All three of the medications were prescribed to Logan. Ginger stated that is the medication he ingested. Logan began to become responsive to Greenville Township Rescue at which point he was transferred to Wayne Healthcare for further evaluation and treatment.
