Forgery / Identity Theft
January 31
On January 31 at approximately 5:36 PM Police responded to 122 West Main Street; Greenville Police Department reference a forgery complaint. The complainant/victim, Rebekah Robbins, stated that on January 12, 2023 she checked her mail at her residence, and found a Chase bank debit card had been sent to her. The Chase bank debit card was in Rebekah’s name, but Rebekah stated that she never opened an account with Chase bank. Rebekah stated that she contacted Chase bank, who advised her that an account had been opened in her name, and she would have to file a police report to have the account closed. Rebekah stated that on January 30, 2023 while she was at work at Family Health Services of Darke County, her supervisor advised her that they received an unemployment benefits request that was in Rebekah’s name. Rebekah stated that she never filed for unemployment. Family Health Services denied the unemployment benefits request. Rebekah stated that she’s unsure of who would file an unemployment request in her name, or who would open a bank account in her name. Rebekah hasn’t lost any money or property from this incident, at this time.
Warrant / Fugitive
February 2
On February 2 at 09:49 AM, Police was dispatched to 699 Wagner Avenue, Hardees, in reference to a welfare check. Inside a black Chevrolet Malibu with Indiana license plates, a male in the driver’s seat and a female in the front passenger seat appeared to be sleeping. As the P.O. approached the vehicle, both the male and female woke up. The P.O. identified the male in the driver’s seat as Kyle Moore, who advised they were just tired and were sleeping. The P.O. then identified the female as Amber Clark.
She advised Kyle and herself stayed the night at her friend Jeremy’s house. When asked who her friend Jeremy was, Amber advised it was Jeremy Cheney who the P.O. was familiar with as a known drug user. Sheriff Deputy Joseph and his K9 responded to the scene. The P.O. had dispatch check Kyle and Amber through LEADS/NCIC. Deputy Joseph then arrived on scene and ran his K9 partner around the vehicle but was not able to get an alert. Dispatch then advised that Kyle had an active warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for felony drug possession. Dispatch then confirmed the warrant with Montogmery County who requested that the Police transports Kyle to our local jail for pick up later. Kyle was arrested and transported to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated on the original charge of Possession of Heroin.
February 7
On February 7, at approximately 03:13 AM Police arrived at 527 Washington Avenue to serve a felony warrant. Police had prior information that Trevor Newbauer was living in the basement of the listed residence. The P.O. had prior knowledge that Trevor has an active felony warrant out of the Darke County Sheriffs Office. The P.O. made contact with Susan Robertson at the front door of the residence and asked her who was inside of the residence with her. She stated that Trevor was in the basement. The P.O. informed her that Trevor has an active warrant out for his arrest and that he was going to go into her residence and arrest him. The Police then entered the residence and located Trevor in the basement of the residence and placed him into handcuffs. Trevor was then searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. Dispatch ran Trevor through LEADS/NCIC and confirmed that he has an active felony warrant out of the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation on an original charge of Drug Possession and Obstructing Official Business with no bond. Police transported Trevor to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated.
Disorderly Conduct / Drunkness
February 4
On February 4 at approximately 6:28 PM Police responded to the 500 block of Wayne Ave reference to a disorderly subject. Callers stated that the subject was attempting to fight objects and people they could not see. They also stated the subject was yelling at passing cars. The P.O. observed a subject matching the description of the callers walking on the sidewalk, yelling, and throwing his personal belongings. The P.O. identified the subject as Zachary Flippo. Zachary’s behaviors were consistent with drug use. He stated that he did not take any thing other that valium. Zachary had also been previously warned for disorderly conduct earlier this day. Due to the previous warning and that the violation occurred within 1,000 feet of Montessori School, 312 Central Avenue. Zachary was placed under arrest and transported to the Darke County Jail.
Disorderly Conduct / Fugitive
February 4
On February 04 at approximately 5:26 PM, Police responded to 1201 Russ Road; Stop and Go reference a disorderly subject in the parking lot. The Stop and Go employee Curtis Hubbell stated that a white; heavy-set male with a beard had arrived in a white Chevrolet Astro van with no license plate in the parking lot of the business, exited his van, and started threatening Curtis and telling him to come outside so they can fight. When Curtis stated that he picked up the phone to call the police, the male fled the area in the van. Curtis stated that the male may live in the Hunter Oak apartments and the P.O. went to the Hunter Oak apartments and located a white Chevrolet Astro matching the description. The P.O. checked the VIN of the vehicle, and learned that it hasn’t been registered since 2018. As the P.O. was walking to building “E” of the apartment complex, he observed a male subject matching the description, who was watching him through a window. The subject identified himself as Kevin Foster, and he admitted to going to Stop and Go to confront Curtis. Kevin stated that Curtis had attempted to sell methamphetamine to his wife on the previous night. Kevin provided his driver’s license, and dispatch checked LEADS/NCIC and learned that Kevin has a Butler County Sheriff’s Office felony warrant, on a burglary offense with no bond. Dispatch confirmed the active warrant. Kevin was placed Kevin under arrest and transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office jail.
Theft
February 4
On February 4 at approximately 11:13 AM Police was dispatched to Greenville Police Department, 122 W Main street Greenville OH. 45331 reference a theft that occurred at approximately between 09:45 AM and 10:15 AM in the Goodwill parking lot, 637 Wagner avenue Greenville OH 45331. Destiney and Andrea Rodgers informed the P.O. that Destiney’s purse, Iphone, wallet, several credit/debit cards and $200.00 cash were stolen from their orange Chevy Trax while shopping inside of Goodwill. After discovering the items were missing they tracked Destiney’s Iphone with her Ipad following a white Chrysler van with a Texas license plate. The van drove to 5197 Layer Rd. Greenville OH 45331 where a man exited the vehicle. It was around this time where they contacted Darke County Sheriffs Office to have an officer present to retrieve the stolen items. Deputy Joseph was able to retrieve the Iphone from Jamie Caupp who stated the phone was found on the west side of the property roughly 50 feet away from the house next to a cornfield. Deputy Joseph directed Destiney and Andrea to the Greenville Police Department due to the crime taking place inside Greenville City limits. While speaking with Destiney and Andrea, Jamie’s mother Cindy Marker called Darke County Sheriffs office saying the purse was found near the woods. The P.O. went to Goodwill where the manager showed him the security video of the parking lot. In the video at approximately 09:50 AM a white Chrysler Pacifica parked next to the Chevy Trax after roughly 5-10 minutes of being parked, a bald white man exited the Chrysler and walked up to the driver side door of the Chevy Trax open the driver door and grab what appears to be a bag or purse. The man gets back in his vehicle drives closer to the front of business entrance. The license plate of the vehicle resemble the colors of a Texas license plate. Deputy Joseph who was then showed the video stated that was the vehicle and person who he was out with earlier at 5197 Layer Rd. Deputy Joseph and I then went to 5197 Layer Rd. to retrieve the stolen items and speak to Jamie regarding the theft. Upon arrival the P.O. observed a white Chrysler Pacifica bearing Texas PDN4353 matching the vehicle description from Destiney, Andrea statements and the security Video from Goodwill. The P.O. then made contact with Cindy Marker who handed him the purse with all items in it except for the $200.00 in cash. The P.O. spoke with Jamie who stated after Deputy Joseph left earlier he went looking for the purse which was found across the street north of the property and across a cornfield on a wood line near a patch of woods approximately 150 – 200 yards away from where the Iphone was supposedly found earlier. Jamie was asked about being at Goodwill earlier but denied ever being there even after he was told there was video of him and his vehicle being there and of him getting into the orange Chevy Trax. Jamie’s story did not line up with the witness’s, videos, and location of all the items. Jamie was issued a copy of his citation regarding the theft and advised of his court date.
