CPO Violation
March 23
On March 23 at 8:56 PM while at 616 1/2 Martin St. on an unrelated call, Kyley Magill advised police that she had received several phone calls from the Darke Co. Jail where her ex-boyfriend, Cody LLoyd, was being housed. There is currently an active CPO from Magill against Lloyd. She stated the calls stated they were a collect call from “Cody Jacob LLoyd” in his voice. Magill stated she received a total of 6 calls on 03/23/23; 2 calls at 6:21 p.m., one call at 6: 35 p.m., 2 calls at 7: 25 p.m., and the last call at 8: 08 p.m.. The police officer confirmed there was an active Civil Stalking Protection Order issued by the Darke Co. Common Pleas Court. The order states Lloyd is prohibited from initiating or having any contact with Magill to include by landline, cordless, cellular or digital telephone. Police prepared a citation for Lloyd for CPO violation. He currently has a pending CPO violation set for trial. Police went to the Darke Co. Jail and spoke with Lloyd. He stated he thought he was trying to call his mother. Lloyd was served his copy of the citation and advised of his court date.
Assisting another Agency
March 24
On 3-24-23 at approximately 2:30PM police was assigned as the School Resource Officer at the Greenville City Schools K-8 building, 1111 N. Ohio St. During this time police was asked to come to the main office to assist the principal and Juvenile Court probation officer. Upon arrival Juvenile Court probation officer stated that he was going to place the juvenile under arrest. The juvenile then physically resisted arrest and failed to comply with lawful orders of the SRO and Juvenile Court probation officer. The juvenile was arrested and waited for transport to West Central Juvenile Detention Center by a Juvenile Court officer.
Fugitive from Justice
March 25
On March 25, 2023 at approximately 4:13 AM police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Sweitzer Street and Sherman Street. Police was on routine patrol when the officer noticed a 2006 Blue GMC Sierra pickup truck bearing a Maine registration traveling northbound in the 700 block of Sweitzer Street. Police immediately noticed that the pickup trucks passenger side headlight was not illuminated and conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle at the intersection of Sweitzer Street and Sherman Street. Police approached the vehicle and made contact with the operator of the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle identified himself as Shawn Beal. To whom police explained the reason for the traffic stop. Shawn admitted to knowing that the headlight was out by stating that there was a wiring issue with the vehicle’s headlights. There were two passengers inside of the pickup truck and they were identified as Cheryl Huston and Robin Elifritz. Dispatch checked Shawn through LEADS/NCIC and confirmed that Shawn has an active misdemeanor warrant out of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on an original charge of domestic violence. Police then ordered Shawn out of the vehicle. and placed Shawn into handcuffs. Shawn was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. Dispatch confirmed the warrant with the Mercer County Sheriff’s office and police transported Shawn to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated with no bond. The vehicle was released to Cheryl Huston at Shawn’s request.
Parking problem
March 25
On March 25, 2023 at 5:35 AM police was dispatched to the 100 block of Windermere Dr. in reference to a parking problem. Police observed a blue Mitsubishi Lancer parked in the middle of the cul-de-sac in the 100 block of Windermere Drive, the rear passenger side door was partially opened and the vehicle was unoccupied. The vehicle was not running and police did not observe any keys in the vehicle. Police learned that the vehicle was registered to Loretta Mcclurg at 111 Windermere Dr. Police made contact with Loretta who advised she didn’t know why her vehicle was in the middle of the street. Loretta then asked her son, Robert Gray why her vehicle was in the middle of the street and he advised he didn’t know. Robert lives with Loretta and operates her vehicle. Loretta advised the police she does not operate her vehicle anymore due to her age. Police asked Robert where he went earlier in the night and he advised no where. Police asked him how the vehicle ended up in the middle of the street and he advised it was parked in the driveway and he was moving it into the garage. Robert stated he started the vehicle, backed it out of the driveway and drove towards the cul-de-sac. Robert stated the key then broke off in the ignition and he couldn’t operate it any longer. Police advised Robert that his story did not make any sense as to how the vehicle ended up parked in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Due to Robert not being able to locate any keys to the vehicle, police requested the next available towing company, which removed the vehicle and Loretta was advised. Police prepared parking a citation.
Trash Dumping
March 27
On March 27, 2023 at approximately 5:15 PM police was dispatched to 503 Washington Avenue in reference to a trash complaint. Police observed multiple old news papers in the front yard and a junk couch on the front porch. At the side of the house there was a pile of loose wood. In the rear of the residence police observed a trailer that was full of black trash bags and other miscellaneous trash. There was a junk sink that was leaning against the back of the residence along with more wood and metal located against the side of the garage. There was an unattached broken screen door in the back yard as well as miscellaneous children’s toys spread through the back yard. There was miscellaneous loose trash spread across the back yard. Police completed a trash notice and made contact with the owner, Joshua Riffell. Police advised Riffell of the trash notice and gave him his copy. Riffell stated that the trash would be taken care of on April 3rd. Police advised him that as long as progress was being made he would not receive a citation. An email was sent to the Safety Service Director notifying him of the trash notice.
