Theft
April 14
On April 14th, 2023, at approximately 3:30 PM police was notified by a student at the Greenville High School in reference to a theft not in progress. While on duty as the School Resource Officer at the Greenville K-8 Building police was notified of a theft that was reported by Robert Creech and his son, a Student at the Greenville High School. The student was informed to meet police at The Greenville K-8 Building to make a report. Upon the student’s arrival with Robert, he informed police that his wallet and car keys were missing from a locker room area in the automotive shop at the high school. The student stated he left his items in an unlocked storage area of the locker room upon his arrival to school earlier of the day at approximately 7:35AM. He also stated he did not realize the items were missing until 2:45PM that same day. The student described the missing wallet as a Deadpool wallet with his drivers license and bank card inside. He also stated the keys that were missing go to his 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. Police informed the student due to the report taking place after hours police would not be able to check camera footage of the school until police returns to the school on the 18th. Upon the police’s arrival to the school on the 18th School Resource police was able to review the camera footage. There are no cameras at the automotive area of the school. Due to the volume of student traffic in automotive and lack of footage police was unable to determine a suspect in this incident. The student also did not know of any suspects. He was informed to notify any of the three SRO’s if he locates his wallet or keys or if he learns of any suspects.
Vandalism
April 27
On 4-27-23, police was contacted by email from Matt Myers, Street Department Superintendent. Matt stated that a toilet at South Park, 871 Gray Ave. had been damaged and video shows two sets of juveniles entering the bathroom at different times. One set of juveniles that entered at 6pm on 4-25-23 was questioned by SRO Conley at Greenville High School. All stated that toilet was in normal condition when they entered and exited. A second video was viewed showing four juveniles, three males and one female on 4-25-23 at 7:36 PM. Police spoke with two juveniles, who were identified by this officer. Both juveniles admitted that they were hiding from another male friend and when he entered the bathroom they both stood on the edge of the toilet. When the other male entered the bathroom both juveniles stepped off of the toilet causing it to break off of the wall and break into multiple pieces onto the ground. All juveniles then left the area and did not contact anyone that the toilet had been damaged. Both juveniles admitted that they were not going to tell anyone until police asked them about the incident. Both juveniles stated they felt bad and intended to make it right by paying for the damages or by doing community service. The juveniles were both issued citations for criminal mischief. Both juveniles had their parents contacted and advised of the citations. Matt Myers advised the replacement cost for the toilet was approximately $250 and labor for install would be approximately $100. Matt Myers was advised of the names of the juveniles that damaged the toilet.
Death/Assisting another Agency
April 28
On April 28, 2023, at approximately 1:04PM, police responded to 195 Bellevernon Avenue in reference to an unresponsive male. Upon arrival police made entry into the listed residence and located the unresponsive male. Police attempted to render aid to the unresponsive male with a negative outcome. Greenville Rescue was able to arrive on scene and further attempt to render aid to the male subject with a negative outcome. Rescue pronounced the male to be deceased at that time. Death Investigator Det. Dickmann and Det. Reed were able to respond to the scene and collect evidence and take photographs. Det. Dickmann contacted Coroner Investigator Jay Pearson. The deceased was released to Zechar Bailey’s Funeral Home via transport from Greenville rescue.
Trash Dumping
April 28
On April 28, 2023 at approximately 4:33PM police responded to 523 Ash Street reference a trash complaint. Police observed 10-15 black and white trash bags piled along a fence line. Police also observed several loose pieces of trash in the yard. Police made contact with John Odum who is the owner of the property. John was advised of the complaint and given a 5 day notice to remove the trash. An email was sent to the Safety Service Director notifying him of the compliant. Police will check back in 5 days to see if the trash has been removed.
Traffic Stop
April 28
On April 28, 2023 at approximately 5:24 PM while on patrol, police observed a 2017 Chevrolet truck traveling northbound on the 400 block of Warren Street. Police checked the vehicle’s registration in LEADS/NCIC and learned that the vehicle’s registration expired on 12/21/2022.
Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Draven Lovell who is the registered owner. Draven stated that he and his passenger, Patrick Campbell were coming from West Milton Ohio and traveling to Bradford Ohio. Police asked Draven why they were in Greenville if their destination is Bradford and Draven stated that they had gotten lost. Police asked Draven for his driver’s license and proof insurance, and he stated that he didn’t have either his license or insurance. Draven stated that he knew the vehicle’s registration is expired. Police then asked Draven if police could search his person and the vehicle, and he consented. In the center console of Draven’s vehicle, police found a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. Draven stated that he didn’t know where the plastic bag came from. Police also located a glass pipe containing burnt residue, which had the odor of burnt marijuana. The pipe and the unknown substance were seized. Draven was issued a citation reference expired registration, and advised of his court date. The pipe was disposed of, and the unknown substance was packaged and placed into property. The unknown substance will not be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office due to an insufficient quantity inside the plastic bag.
Theft
April 30
On April 30, 2023 around 1:10 PM, police was dispatched to Smart Stop Self Storage, 1325 Benden Way, in reference to a theft of a catalytic converter. Police spoke with the victim, Mary Pool. Mary advised she parked her RV, a white 1996 Fleetwood, in the Smart Stop Self Storage lot. The RV was parked there from early October until today’s date. Sometime during that period, an unknown suspect got into the storage facility and was able to cut off the catalytic converter from the RV. Police spoke to the employee at Smart Stop Self Storage and she advised she would have someone look at the surveillance footage. There were no tools or evidence left at the scene. A victim’s rights form was given to the victim and it was completed. On May 3, 2023 police contacted Smart Stop Self Storage and asked about the video footage. Police was told by an employee that the video surveillance only goes back 32 days and they were unable to see anything suspicious in that time frame. Police has no suspects at this time.
Warrant
May 1
On May 01, 2023 at approximately 5:39PM while on patrol, police observed a 2004 Chevrolet truck traveling southbound on Washington Avenue near Sherman Street. Police observed the front seat passenger of the vehicle and identified him as Joseph Mccreery. Police checked Joseph in LEADS/NCIC and learned that he has an active Mercer County Sheriff’s Office warrant for failing to report to jail on a child support offense, with no bond. Police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with Joseph. Joseph was placed into handcuffs. The warrant was confirmed, and Joseph was transported to North Star, Ohio where he was released to Mercer County deputy Fink.
Domestic Violence
May 2
On May 2, 2023 at approximately 3:05 AM police was dispatched to 209 East Main Street; Towne House Motel; Room 117 in reference to a possible domestic violence. Police spoke with girlfriend; Mara Maxwell and boyfriend; Eric Rutherford who denied that any physical altercation had occurred between them. Mara stated that they had been engaged in a strictly verbal argument. Mara stated that her Aunt/complainant; Destiny Werner had overreacted when she contacted dispatch to report the possible domestic violence. Destiny wasn’t present for the argument when it had occurred and had instead briefly talked to Mara over telephone before she contacted dispatch. Police did not observe any injuries on either Mara or Eric and there were no signs of a fight apparent in the motel room. Dispatch contacted Destiny to inform her that both parties checked ok. BCI only/ No school age children present.
Theft/Counterfeiting/Forgery
May 2
On May 2, 2023 around 11:23 AM police was dispatched to Hittle GMC, 1270 Sweitzer St in reference to someone cashing fraudulent checks from the listed business. Police spoke to witness/employee, Angela Lyme. Angela stated she works in the Finance Department at Hittle GMC. Angela was contacted by Park National Bank earlier in the morning and notified that their was fraudulent checks cashed from their business. Park National Bank sent over a copy of the nine total checks cashed and they were not the same type of checks used by Hittle GMC. Angela gave police copies of the checks cashed and advised that she did not know any of the suspect’s names listed on them. On the copies of the checks you can see they were all cashed or processed on April 26, 2023. Three checks were cashed allegedly by a Janiah Fitzpatrick, with all three checks being for $2,000 each. Two checks were allegedly cashed by Nekovious Taylor for $5,510.36 and $5,502.36. Two checks were allegedly cashed by Chaddrek Robinson for $5,439.74 and $5,367.98 and two checks were allegedly cashed by Alexas Rivera for $5,499.65 and $5,513.64. The total amount stolen in fraudulent checks is $38,833.73. Angela showed police a copy of the checks that they use at Hittle GMC and the ones the suspects used. The font was not the same, there was no phone number, and the general overall appearance was not the same. Angela did not know where the checks had been cashed. Park National Bank is looking into where the checks were cashed and told Angela, they would be back in touch with her when they had more information. Angela was given a victim’s rights form that was completed. Police has nothing further until police receives follow up from both the bank and Angela to determine more on the suspects and where they were cashed. Police did not locate any of the suspect’s names matching in Spillman.
Domestic Violence
May 4
On May 4, 2023 at approximately 12:03 AM, police was dispatched to 214 Washington Avenue reference a domestic complaint. BCI only between Allison Franklin and Jonathan Houdeshell. Allison and Jonathan are in a physical sexual relationship and both subjects are living together at the listed residence. Allison stated that she and Jonathan got into a verbal argument over her taking pictures of herself and posting the photographs on Facebook. Jonathan became upset when Allison sent the photographs to other men on Facebook. Jonathan left the residence before officers arrived on scene. Allison stated that she was staying at the listed residence for the rest of the night. There were three school aged children present during the incident. All the children attend Arcanum Public Schools.
Warrant/Fugitive from Justice
May 4
On May 4, 2023 at approximately 4:14PM, police was dispatched to the intersection of South Broadway Street and East Fifth Street reference a wanted person. Police observed Danielle Haberny and Cameron Quinn walking on the sidewalk. Police had prior knowledge that Danielle has a Felony Warrant through the Darke County Sheriffs Office for Dangerous Drugs with no bond. Dispatch confirmed the warrant through LEADS/NCIC. Danielle was placed into handcuffs. During a search of Danielle’s person suspected drugs were located. Danielle was transported to the Darke County Jail and released to jail staff.
