Property

June 3

On June 3, 2023 at 10:38 PM police was dispatched to 122 West Main Street, the GPD in reference to a property call. Police spoke to Deborah Todd. Deborah advised she had in her possession, a computer belonging to Cody Boyd. Deborah stated that Cody dated her daughter, Cheyenne Todd. Deborah stated she felt safer if police took possession of the computer and placed it into property until Cody could come pick it up, than for her to return it. Deborah cited harassment and also a physical altercation between Cody and Cheyenne that took place in Cincinnati Ohio on a recent date as reasons for her to fear for her safety. Police took possession of the computer and it was logged and placed into the property room. Police will attempt to contact Cody to advise him of the procedure to get his property back. Police contacted Cheyenne by telephone. Cheyenne stated she and Cody stayed in a hotel in Mason Ohio prior to this date. She stated that Cody became aggressive with her and she left to go home. She stated that Cody left his computer in her vehicle and she didn’t know it. She stated that Cody told her about the computer and she attempted to make arrangements for him to pick the computer up but Cody began threatening and harassing her. Cheyenne advised that she spoke to her mother, Deborah who advised Cheyenne to give her the computer and she would bring it to the Police department so he could pick it up from here. Police attempted to contact Cody via telephone but was unsuccessful and left a voicemail. The computer was packaged and placed into property for safe keeping.

Domestic Violence

June 4

On June 4, 2023 at approximately 1:00 AM police was dispatched to 835 Sweitzer Street; Wayne Healthcare in reference to a domestic not in progress. Police spoke with hospital staff that informed police that the involved person, Ashli Cunningham had come to the Emergency Room for a hand injury and bruising that was possibly from an instance of domestic violence. Investigation revealed that Ashli was in a verbal argument with the father of her children, Jeffery Barrett. Ashli checked herself into Wayne ER for a self inflicted injury. BCI only/ No school age children present.

Vandalism

June 4

On June 4, 2023 at approximately 2:29 AM police was dispatched to 515 Wayne Avenue in reference to a report of criminal damaging. Police spoke with the complainant/victim; Eva Curtis who stated that the listed red 2022 Ford EcoSport belonging to her had its tires “slashed”. Eva stated that she had been at the residence located at 515 Wayne Avenue with witness/resident Joshua Edwards. Eva stated that Olivia Debord was responsible for damaging her tires but had not seen or had any evidence to prove it was that individual other than having had past issues with her. Eva stated that the incident occurred approximately between 1:00-2:30 AM. Police observed that the EcoSport was legally parked facing North on the roadway between 515 and 525 Wayne Avenue. Both of the tires on the driver side of the EcoSport were deflated and upon further inspection observed there to be visible puncture marks on the sidewalls of both tires. No other damage was located on the EcoSport. While looking for additional damage to the EcoSport police observed the listed red 2011 Ford Focus parked in front of it with both tires on the driver side deflated. Upon further investigation of the Focus it did not appear that the tires were damaged with no visible puncture marks. Joshua stated that the vehicle belonged to his grandmother, now known to police as Linda Batty. Police contacted dispatch and it was confirmed that the registered owner of the vehicle was Linda. Joshua stated that both tires on the Focus were likely already deflated because he had been asked to replace them at an earlier time by Linda. Eva and Joshua stated that Linda had observed a vehicle that was possibly involved in the criminal damaging to the EcoSport. Police made contact with Linda who denied wanting to be involved and through questioning found that she was uncertain of the description of the vehicle. Pictures were taken of both vehicles. Eva was given a witness statement and victim rights form to complete and return at a later time. The residence located at 525 Wayne Avenue appeared to have a camera that was facing the area where the incident occurred. Police will contact the resident to attempt to attain video footage of the incident. At approximately 7:02 AM police went to the residence located at 525 Wayne Avenue and made contact with the resident. He checked the video footage but the camera did not capture the incident. The camera captured when Eva arrived at the location and when police responded to the incident. Police checked the surrounding area for any further cameras that could be used to help identify the suspect but was unable to locate any. On June 5, 2023 at approximately 2:40 AM police attempted to contact Eva to notify her of the findings. There was no answer at the number she gave police and police was unable to leave a message due to the voicemail inbox being full. This case can be closed due to lack of evidence for a suspect.

Assault

June 5

On June 5, 2023 at approximately 10:52 AM police was dispatched to 214 North Gray Avenue in reference to a possible assault/ domestic disturbance. Police met with a male and female identified as Hunter Hammer and Kayla Gilbert. It was found that Kayla and Hunter have shared custody of their natural children but do not live with each other. While speaking with Kayla she advised that her and Hunter had been in an argument due to conflicts with their shared custody. Police was able to speak with Hunter who advised that the argument began due to Kayla being late to pick up the children. He advised that their shared custody paperwork stated in the event that a parent is late for pick up or drop off the rights of visitation for that parent will be forfeited for the week. Hunter advised that he went to Kayla’s vehicle in an attempt to get their shared children out of her vehicle. Hunter advised that he stood in front of Kayla’s vehicle to get her to stop from leaving at which time he then went to the back seat area of the vehicle and opened the door. Hunter stated at the time he opened the door to get inside and get the children, Kayla put her vehicle into drive and pushed the gas peddle down causing him to hit the door frame of the vehicle and fall down inside the vehicle. After Hunter fell Kayla put the vehicle in park and got out. She walked to the door where Hunter was still standing, and proceeded to slam the door shut on him. Photographs were taken of Hunter’s injuries at the time. Police was also able to observe the red abrasions to the lower right side of his back as well. Kayla advised that during the argument, as she was trying to leave, Hunter stood in front of her vehicle and restricted her ability to leave. She advised she told Hunter to move from in front of her vehicle when he then walked to the driver side window, that was down, and reached inside the vehicle attempting to shut the vehicle off. She advised he then went to the back seat and proceeded to take their shared children out of the back seat. She stated that she then attempted to turn around and tell him to get out of her vehicle when her foot slipped off the brake peddle causing the vehicle to move forward while Hunter was still half way in the car getting their children out. She advised she then exited her vehicle, falling into to back driver side passenger door causing the door to close on Hunter. Hunter then was able to get the children out of the vehicle and return into his listed residence with them. Kayla and Hunter were both given witness statement forms that were completed and placed into records at Greenville PD. After further conversation with Hunter and Kayla they both advised that they did not currently want to pursue any charges in relation to this incident. Hunter advised that he just wanted the incident documented for any further cases pertaining to the custody of their shared children. There were no school age children present at the time of the incident.

Trash/Dumping

June 6

On 6-6-23 police responded to 1321 Highland Dr in reference to a compliant about the homeowner abandoning the property. The property’s front grass has recently been mowed by a neighbor. The back yard is very overgrown with weeds, plants and trees. Police made contact with the homeowner by phone. She advised she has moved to Tipp City and was going to sell the property. She advised she can get the back of the property cleaned up but would need about two weeks. Police will check the property on 6-21-23. A grass notice was already placed on the front door on 5-24-23. Matt Myers, street dept. was contacted about the two week timeframe. SSD Delk was made aware of this case by email. Case will need to be assigned in case management.

Domestic Violence

June 6

On June 6th 2023 at 6:21 PM police was dispatched to 1350 Benden Way apt #E5 Greenville OH. 45331 in reference to a domestic dispute. BCI only between Terry Hofacker and Jesse Hofacker who are father and son, and do not reside together. Terry and Jesse were in an argument at 1350 Benden Way Apt.#E5. Terry left the residence returning to his residence at 3790 Brumbaugh Road. There were no injuries reported or visible injuries. Two school age children were present.

EDP

June 8

On June 8, 2023 at approximately 12:51 AM police was dispatched to 307 Oxford Drive Apartment #106 reference to a an EDP. Police could hear a female voice yelling coming from apartment 106. Police also could hear someone pounding on the walls coming from inside of the apartment. Police made contact with Brooke Setser at apartment 106. Police also made contact with Brooke’s caseworker Johnathan Ross. Johnathan stated that Brooke was going through a manic state and she was pounding on all of the walls inside of the apartment. Johnathan stated that Brooke is diagnosed with manic depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Johnathan also stated that Brooke had punched a hole in the wall. Police could visualize a hole in the drywall inside of the living room. Brooke stated to me that she was suicidal and stated that she wanted to go to the hospital. Police asked Brooke if she had attempted to harm herself and she stated that she attempted to cut both of her arms with a knife. Police did not see any visible injuries to Brooke’s arms. Due to Brooke’s statements police requested the Greenville Township Rescue to arrive on scene for mental evaluation. Greenville Township Rescue arrived on scene and transported Brooke to Wayne Hospital. Due to Brooke representing a substantial risk of physical harm to herself manifested by threats of self-inflicted harm. Police filled out a application for emergency admission (pink slip) for Brooke and a copy was provided to Wayne Hospital staff.

Trash/Dumping

June 8

On June 8th 2023, at 11:13 AM police was dispatched to 419 North Gray Avenue Greenville OH. 45331 in reference to a trash complaint. Complainant advised that items have been set out for trash pick-up however has not been picked up. Police observed a couch not wrapped in plastic, a broken desk, and a wooden chair set out by the curb. Police spoke with the resident Melanie Roth who stated that the items were set out for Rumpke to pick them up. She was informed that the couch needed to be wrapped in plastic to be picked up. The desk and chair needed to be broken down and put in a trashcan for pick-up. Melanie was issued a trash notice for the couch, desk, and chair. Police will follow-up with the progress in five days. An e-mail has been sent to Safety Service Director Ryan Delk.

Warrant/Fugitive from Justice

June 8

On June 8, 2023 at approximately 7:42 PM police responded to the intersection of Riffle Avenue and 12th Street on a reported disorderly female. Police made contact with the suspects, Mara Maxwell and Eric Rutherford. Police ran Eric through LEADS/NCIC and learned Eric had an active warrant for his arrest through the Preble County Sheriff’s Office reference a failure to appear on a family offense and probation violation with a bond of $5,000. Police arrested Eric, placing him in handcuffs. Police searched Eric incident to arrest with nothing located. Eric’s property was released to Mara. Police transported Eric to the Dollar General in West Manchester, Ohio and transferred him into the custody of Deputy Parker with the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.
