Greenwave Bowling Teams wrap up Season at Districts

Girls

The Lady Wave sent 2 bowlers to the district meet at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek for the Southwest District bowling tournament.  Greenville was represented by Marissa Boney and Ainsleigh Davidson.  These 2 girls had high enough qualifying scores to advance from sectionals to districts.  Each girl bowled with another qualifying team on separate lanes.  Beaver-vu is a 62 lane bowling center and most of those lanes were in use for this tournament.  It’s quite a site the first time you see it.

There were 198 bowlers in the field.  Marissa and Ainsleigh struggled with nerves at first, but got through it.  It’s a unique experience to bowl without your team there to support you.  Each girl bowled 3 games to see if they qualified for state.  They were only advancing 5 individuals to state out of 198.  Marissa tied  for 71st with games of 147, 136 and 195.  Ainsleigh finished 109th with games of 127, 133 and 128.  Congratulations to both girls on making it to districts and representing Greenville High School!

Boys

The Greenwave Varsity Bowling Team advanced 2 bowlers to the district match at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, OH.  Corbin Frye and Alex Hadden shot well enough at sectionals to qualify them for the district match as individuals.  They would both bowl on separate lanes, joining another team on their assigned lane that qualified for districts.  If you’ve never been to one of these matches, it can be quite intimidating.  Beaver-Vu has 62 lanes and most of them were in use for this tournament.  There were 205 bowlers participating and they were only advancing 4 individuals to state.  Both boys were a bit nervous at first but were able to shake that off during practice.

The boys came out ready to bowl and represented Greenville well.  Alex Hadden shot games of 188, 237 and 222 which placed him 19th overall.  He was only 7 bowlers away from qualifying for the state event (some bowlers qualified with their team making them ineligible as individual qualifiers).  Corbin Frye bowled games of 201, 125 and 166 to tie for 102nd place.  As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of these to gentlemen.  Congratulations to them both on a great performance and representing Greenville so well!
