Greenwave Varsity Boys Bowlers finish 13th at Sectional Tournament

By Rich Hadden |

The Greenwave Varsity Boys bowled at the sectional tournament at Poelking Woodman in Kettering.  The boys started off bowling slightly above their average.  This got them a 12th place starting place out of 27 teams.  The boys second game was also slightly above their average, a lot of the field did great on game 2.  The boys dropped to 16th.  Determination was what the boys had and they were fired up as they were only 121 pins out of the cut.  The boys rallied and bowled a great game in game 3 which moved them up to 11th place.  The boys were able to hold on to 11th place through the first 3 bakers, but they had 1 rough game in the bakers and it dropped them to 13th place where they ended the day.  The boys were led by Conner Leas with a 228 high game and a high series of 604.  While the boys did not qualify for the district tournament, Conner’s series landed him a 6th place individual qualifier for districts and he will represent Greenville on Thursday at Beaver-Vu lanes in Beavercreek, OH.  Michel Thompson, Johnny Floyd and Luke Kiser also had a great showing, missing qualifying by 22, 31 and 38 pins respectively.

The boys finished their season with a record of 11-7 in the MVL and 11-9 overall.  The boys were very happy with their season and are grateful to the community for all of the support they received.  The bowling teams would like to thank Willie Powell and the staff at Woodcrest Lanes for the wonderful support they provided for us this season.  Thank you to all of the administration that came over and watched or provided us with support behind the scenes.

Best wishes to Conner as he travels to districts this week.  GO WAVE!!!
