Greg White, who was appointed as Councilman At-Large for the position that became vacant after Jeff Whitaker was elected to be the mayor of Greenville, was sworn in by his predecessor on Wednesday afternoon.
Greg White, a native of West Milton, who had a 40 year long career in the automotive industry and traveled to and lived in many countries around the world, moved back to this area 10 years ago to be closer to his mother. He said that Greenville was one of the landing spots he was looking for in his last move and he found it. He continues that this is the first place he felt home since more than 30 years and that he wants to contribute to the city that makes him feel so home. White called Greenville a special place and says hat he likes the friendliness of the people here. He has good memories of coming to Greenville as a kid with his grandfather, especially to Maid Rite and the livestock auction grounds.
Asked about his goals as Councilman, White said that he wants to find a way to bring growth back to Greenville and make people to want to come to Greenville. He said that he has no idea how that can get done, but that these are the goals and now it needs to be figured out, what’s going to take to do that.
