GREENVILLE- The name Hanes is one that’s very familiar at Mississinawa Valley schools.
Seventeen year old Harley Hanes is right at home there and she also had the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 Darke County Fair.
The lamb, a Hampshire, goes through a rigorous schedule on a daily basis to get ready for show.
“Every day the lamb gets daily exercise,” said Hanes. “It’s very time consuming but also very rewarding.”
While she had the grand champion, her brother had the reserve grand champion making it a family affair.
To be able to do this means a lot to me,” Hanes said. “It’s all about doing things as a family. We work hard as a family. Our parents, Josh and Trisha, put a lot into their kids and the support we get from them is the best. We win as a family and that’s important to us.”
Hanes runs cross country at MV and will do so again in 2023.
