Hudson O’Neal wins the 53rd World 100

“The World 100 is special. Why? I can’t tell you exactly, not in words. But it’s just the most prestigious, most competitive, most difficult, most exciting event in Dirt Late Model racing. Boy, I love that race. (Earl Baltes)

Father Don O’Neal tried it for many years, but only came close – 23 year old son Hudson O’Neal did it: he won the the World 100, the world’s most prestigious Dirt Late Model race. Hudson is the first driver from Indiana who can add his name to the list of winners

With this victory not only got the O’Neal-family what they waited and competed for since many years, it was also the first victory for the co-owner of Rocket Chassis, who finally, after 50 years of waiting, saw the first World 100 victory of one of his cars.

Jonathan Davenport, who won the globe five times (2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022) came in second, third was Dale McDowell whose name is also on the list of World 100 winners. He won the globe in 2005. Dale started the feature on 27th position and fought his way to position 3.

Rookie of the 53rd World 100 was the just 16 years old Tristan “Tricky” Chamberlain. Tristan started rasing go karts at the age of 8, moved up to crate late models at the age of 13. He won 4 track championships at Little E Eldora Speedway. He finished the Feature on position 18!

The 50/50 winners share on Thursday was more than $26K, on Friday just over $100K and on Saturday it was close to $93K.
