I would like to introduce myself as the newly elected president of Empowering Darke County Youth. My name is Delores Ely and I am a lifelong resident of Greenville and Darke County. I am retired and spent most of my professional life as a secretary and administrative assistant. My last position afforded me the opportunity to be a part of a state funded program that helped small businesses bring their products and services to market. Part of this job also reached out to veterans aiding them to transition from the military service to becoming small business owners. I currently serve on Greenville City Council, representing the second ward. This position presents many opportunities to serve the citizens of Greenville and their families.
I am active in the Darke County Republican Women’s Club, serving as second vice president. I serve as a member of the Darke County Republican Central Committee. I founded and lead a bible study for the developmentally disabled (Circle of Friends) at my church Radiant Lighthouse.
My goal as president of Empowering Darke County Youth, through their tutoring of children is to enable a child who has fallen behind or has a learning disability to receive one on one attention to unlock the power of education through improving their skills. Our organization wants to grow this program to more of our community schools and those students who are in need.
