Jack L. Hunt, 80, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio.
He was born in Greenville on September 2, 1941, to the late Lester Hunt and Ruby (Rolfe) Hunt-Allread-Snider.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Hunt; his stepfathers, Arla Allread and Cyrillus “Ted” Snider; his stepmother, Ettalene Hunt; his father-in-law, Dorwin Garrison; and his mother-in-law, Marvel Garrison-Shiveley.
Jack was a 1960 graduate of Greenville High School. He was a member of the Ansonia Church of God, Greenville Moose Lodge, Greenville Eagles, and was a past member of the Ansonia Grange. After high school, Jack began working at FRAM in August of 1960, working for 37 ½ years where. He started as a janitor and retired as a Business Center Manager. Jack grew up farming and raised his children on the family farm. For a time, he owned “Jack’s Place” in New Madison, Ohio. He will be remembered for his excellent work ethic which he modeled for his family and employees. Jack loved and supported his family no matter the activity. Jack made it a point to be there for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – even if it was halfway across the country. He enjoyed classic cars, and was an avid racing fan. He spent time boating and fishing, spending weekends at their summer place on Grand Lake St. Mary’s, riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, as well as traveling with his love, Sherry, and other family members in their motorhome.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sherry (Garrison) Hunt, the love of his life, whom he married on June 12, 1960; his children, Dale L. (Jerri Altenberger) Hunt, Bruce A. (Pam) Hunt, Shelly Kennedy and Brian L. (Teresa) Hunt; his grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Hunt, Sierra (Matt) Allen, Abby (David) Light, Brooke (Josh Compton) Snyder, Hannah (Thomas) Shaw and Molly Hunt; his great grandchildren, Madi and Corbin McCool, Hadley Allen, Alexa, Aubrey, Austin & Aiden Light, Laine and Paisley Snyder, Leland and Oliver Compton, as well as, Baby Allen and Baby Hunt on the way; his sisters-in-law, Beverly (Ralph) Garrison-Francis, Ladonna (Dr. Phil) Compton, and Paula (and the late James) Bryson; his brother-in-law, Randy (Beverly) Garrison; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friend, Mike Sutherland, and extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Ansonia First Church of God, with Pastor Derek Specht officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.
Jack’s family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, and again on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
