James C. Bixler, age 95 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Pitsburg passed away at 12:54 AM Tuesday December 20, 2022 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Jim was born August 10, 1927 in Gettysburg, Ohio and the son of the late Harry and Myrtle (Berry) Bixler.
He was retired from the Arcanum National Bank of Arcanum, Ohio and had also served as Clerk and Treasurer with the Arcanum and Ansonia School Systems. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army during WW II and a member of the Gordon United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all the grandkids ballgames. He also was involved in horse racing and the owner of Parkview Stables in Pitsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marie Alsbaugh and brother Junior Bixler.
Jim is survived by his wife Phyllis (Lecklider) Bixler of Greenville. They were married November 21, 1951. Also their children Brad (Lisa) Bixler of Troy, Jeff Bixler of Greenville, Doug Bixler of Pitsburg and Jodi (Aaron) Whittaker of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Marcus (Abby) Bixler, Gavin (Cassandra) Bixler, James Whittaker and Andrew Whittaker; great grandchildren Paxson Bixler, Gus Bixler, Wyatt Bixler, Owen Bixler, Brady Bixler and Nila Bixler as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday December 22, 2022 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Jeffery Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of the services in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to EverHeart Hospice or the Brethren Home Resident’s Aid Fund, both of Greenville.
