James Robert (Bob) Nance, 96, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away on February 3 2024. Bob was a lifelong resident of Winchester and was born to Jim and Ann Nance on February 21, 1927. He was a 1945 graduate of Winchester High School, graduating early to enter the Navy at age 17, where he achieved the rank of Aviation Ordnance 3rd Class. Following his military service, Bob had a distinguished career at Overmyer Mould Company, starting as a plant employee, eventually becoming the head of Human Resources, Labor Relations Director, and ultimately retiring as Plant Manager.
Bob was a member of Countryside Christian Church, formerly known as Main Street Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and board member. He enjoyed playing golf, eating dinner breakfasts, making extra spicy bloody marys, watching Western movies, and creating big band/oldies playlists for his family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 66 years, Mary; his son, Jim; his great-granddaughter, Daphne Shira; and great-great-grandson, Lennox Brewer. He is survived by his son, Kevin (Debbie) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn Hoilman of Greenville, Ohio. The family would like to send their sincere thanks and gratitude to Heartland Hospice of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for their loving care and kindness given to Bob and his family in his last year.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Countryside Christian Church. Friends and relatives may call from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, at Countryside Christian Church.
