Jean Elaine York age 76, of Greenville passed away at 3:50 pm Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her residence.
Jean was born March 15, 1945, in Lewisburg to the late Samuel & Ruth (Ross) Sponaugle. In addition to her parents, Jean was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Ray York on March 27, 2021; and son, Clifford York II.
Jean is survived by her children, Tammy Griggs, Tim York, Scott (Heather) York and Sherry (Tom) Ellis; grandchildren, Marty Dean Griggs, Daniel Griggs, Erik Griggs, Aaron York, Ashley York, Andrew York, Austin York, Alexis Livingston, Amber Ellis, Blake Ellis and Brent Ellis; siblings, Samuel Sponaugle II, Steven Sponaugle and Mary Brush; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean retired from Corning Glass in Greenville. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and putting jigsaw puzzles together.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Bill Osborne and Pastor Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association.
