The results are still “unofficial”, but Jeff Whitaker, who ran a “grass root” campaign, waving signs on high traffic spots within Greenville, knocking on Hundreds of doors and talking to the citizens about their concerns, is the winner of the GOP Primary Election for the Mayor of Greenville.
He won 52.8% of the votes, John Baumgardner 47.2%
This race was the only contested race in this Primary-Election.
In a first statement Jeff Whitaker said: “I am truly honored by the outcome of this Primary Election today and so thankful to everyone who came out and voted.” He continued: “Hard work and a solid grass roots campaign pays off, and I am truly pleased by everyone’s response to my efforts. I’ve had the pleasure of talking and meeting with so many people all around town regarding the issues that concerns them”.
