Jerry “Maddog” Emrick, 80, of New Paris, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.
Jerry was born on July 10, 1941, in Richmond, to the late Keith and Elizabeth (Stigleman) Emrick.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessie Emrick.
Jerry retired from Belden Wire and Cable after 32 years of service. He was a member of the New Paris American Legion. He was a true outdoorsman, loving to fish, hunt, cutting wood and cooking on the grill. Jerry loved to ride his 1968 Harley Davidson Shovel Head. He was a straight-shooter who told it like it was. He had countless friends, and never knew a stranger. He has touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his children, Jeff (Bobbie Michell) Emrick of St. Augustine, Florida, Shelly (Gary) Wittlinger of Englewood, Ohio, Dionne (Tony) Marti of Greenville, Ohio, and Josh Emrick of Richmond; his grandchildren, Chelsey (Lake) Hainz of McCordsville, Indiana, Ryan Wittlinger of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Andrew Wittlinger of Chicago, Illinois, Brayden Emrick of Columbus, Ohio, and Victoria Marti of Ansonia, Ohio. Jerry also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren; his 3 siblings, Patti (Homer) Ebersole of West Manchester, Ohio, Judi Shroyer of Arcanum, Ohio, and Rick (Elaine) Emrick of Richmond; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.
Jerry’s family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at noon. The family requests face coverings be worn by all who attend and will be made available at the door for anyone who needs one.
