Jim A. Spurrier, age 76 of Hollansburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11:36 PM. Born in Richmond, Indiana on August 21, 1947 he was a son to the late Ernest & Elizabeth (Davenport) Spurrier. Jim was a very successful Hackney Pony trainer and breeder. He had won national titles, Hackney Pony Breeder of the Year, and raised numerous world champions; ponies were his true life passion. He was a member of the American Shetland Pony Club and the American Hackney Horse Society.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Lee Spurrier.
Survived by his life-long companion, Pam Mottinger: children Greg & Bobbi Spurrier; Barb & Mark McClellan; Christine & Chris Laethem; Brad Mottinger: grandchildren Amanda & Landon Trump; Cassandra & Drew Krogman; Jenna & Logan George: great-grandchildren Conner, Wyatt, Tyson, Josie, Grace and Harrison: siblings Earnestine Cloyd; Audrey Cloyd; Earnest & Shirley Spurrier’ Robert Spurrier: as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
