John E. Lewis, Jr., 72, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away, suddenly, Monday, March 15, 2021, at his home.
He was born on October 10, 1948, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late John E. Lewis, Sr. and Betty Jane (Delk) Lewis.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Minnie Albright.
John was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He loved playing with his grandkids and always attended any event they were involved in. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan. John attended Castine Church and at one time played on their church softball team. He was dedicated and hardworking. His work ethic was unrivaled. He worked for GM for over 35 years before retiring. More recently, he delivered medications for Kaup Pharmacy in Versailles, Ohio. He looked forward to the Great Darke County fair every year. John enjoyed landscaping, gardening and watching the birds through the window. He was loving, and kindhearted. He left a mark on every person who had the pleasure to meet him and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rebecca (Gibson) Lewis, whom he married October 18, 1969; his daughter, Kristie M. Stump and her husband, Christopher, of Arcanum; his son, Jeremy M. Lewis of Vienna, Virginia; his grandchildren, Karr C. Stump, Anna J. Stump, Abigail M. Stump, and Hannah G. Lewis; and his brother, David A. Lewis, of Greenville, Ohio.
A private celebration of John’s life will take place at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating.
John’s family requests that any memorial contributions be given to the Cancer Association of Darke County, PO Box 781 Greenville, Ohio.
