John L. Kell

John L. Kell age 90, of Greenville passed away at 11:38 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2022. At the Oakley Place in Greenville.

John was born April 7, 1932, in Preble County to the late John Kell & Sylvia (Barnhart) Kell Herndon. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Lois “Marge” (Hesson) Kell on August 13, 2020, whom he married March 22, 1952; sisters & brothers-in-law, Shirley & Alvin Peterson, Dorothy & Jim Royer and Joanne Bille.

John is survived by his children, Patricia “Patty” & Doug Fellers of Greenville, Michael & Mary Kell of Greenville, Pamela Strait & Janet Albers of Kettering and Mark & Lisa Kell of New Port Richey, Florida; grandchildren, Eric Fellers, Nicholas Fellers, Arinne Lee, Andrew Kell, Stephen Kell, Shantelle Alban, Victoria Strait, Mariah Trask and Alexis Hobson; 15 great grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Linda Kell of Lima; sisters & brother-in-law, Theresa & Don Marshall of Tennessee and Jayne Greene of Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Fram Corporation in Greenville with 42 years of service in the maintenance department. John was a member of Ansonia First Church of God and formerly served on the Board of Trustees. John was proud of his faith and enjoyed serving on Mission Trips. John was an avid woodworker. He loved traveling, wintering in Florida and never passed up an opportunity to sit on the water in a boat with a fishing pole. In later years, he developed a passion for coloring and shared his art with family and friends.

The family would like to give the staff at Oakley Place and Day City Hospice a special thank you for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to John.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Derek Specht officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard.
