John Shell, 91 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday June 11, 2023 at 2:47 AM, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. John was born August 22, 1931 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late John W. and Ruth (Shinn) Shell.
John served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War; he worked for Goodyear Tire Company.
John was a member of the Greenville V.F.W.; Trinity Wesleyan Church; and loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and great grandkids.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis A. Shell on February 24, 2018 whom he married November 7, 1952; his son, Jack Shell; his grandson, Jonathan Shell; and several brothers and sisters.
John is survived by his children and spouses, Randy and Tonja Shell of Greenville, Terry and Kim Shell of Greenville, and Cindy and Cory Madaj of Coldwater, Ohio; his grandchildren, Leah, Daniel, Randy, Jessica, Ashlee, Abbie, Cody, and Caleb; 12 great grandchildren; his brothers, Myron Shell, Charles Shell, and Chester Shell; his sisters, Rosie Thiebeau, and Nancy York; his in laws, Gary Hetzler, and Karen Coppock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday June 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Nick Good officiating. Burial with veterans honors conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville V.F.W.
