Joyce E. Scheiding

Joyce E. Scheiding, 78, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio.

She was born on June 4, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Wilbur and Carrie (Shaffner) Brodrick.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by sister, Janice Dix; her brother-in-law, Gene Fox; and her sister-in-law, Arlene Szkudlarek.

Joyce was a 1961 graduate of Monroe Central High School in Preble County. She dedicated a majority of her life to raising her children, which led to the greatest reward, her beloved grandchildren. Later in life, Joyce worked for Sutton’s in Arcanum for over 20 years. She was blessed many friends throughout the years, and it was not uncommon for people to wait a little longer in line just to talk to Joyce. Aside from being with her grandchildren, in her free time, Joyce liked to do puzzle books, such as crosswords and word searches. She and her husband, Bill, were past members of the Greenville Moose, where they created many valued friendships.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 53 years, William “Bill” Scheiding, whom she married on July 27, 1968; her children, Kristina Scheiding of Greenville, Melissa (Brian) Wilson of Greenville, and Bill (Tracie) Scheiding of Dayton; her cherished grandchildren, Adam, Zach, Trey, and Ethan Wilson, and Juniper and Torin Scheiding; her siblings, Joan (Jack) Mitchell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Claudia (Danny) Mitchell of Richmond, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Joyce’s family on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Community Christmas Dinner, 1000 North Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio, or Dayton Children’s Hospital, Attn: Foundation, One Children’s Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404-1815.
