Joyce “Joy” M. Albright, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
She was born on February 4, 1939, at home in Jaysville, to the late Goth and Mildred (Davis) Townsend.
In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by her brothers Harold Townsend, William Townsend, Parl Townsend, George E. Townsend and sisters Betty Townsend Brown, Shirley Townsend East, and Janette “Cork” Townsend Drew.
Joy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jim Albright, whom she married on June 19, 1988 of Greenville; her son, Craig (Karen) House of Royal Palm Beach, FL; step-daughter, Cynthia (Craig) Brown of Manchester, MI; step-son, Doug (Anne) Albright of Tipp City, OH; grandchildren, Collin, Kendall, Christopher (Emma), Corey (Shannon), Mark (Allison), Matthew (Evanne), and Daniel; great grandchildren, Kylie, Emerson, Madison, Charlotte and Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy was a graduate of New Madison High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Thwaits for many years. In her free time, Joy enjoyed country line dancing, playing ping pong, and enjoying Esther Price candies. Joy was a member of EUM church in Greenville and was a part of a bible study group. She was fond of the many cats she had over the years. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.
A celebration of Joy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.
Guests may visit with Joy’s family on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 12:00 PM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM.
