June S. Kasunic, 92, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Brookdale of Greenville.
She was born June 14, 1930, in rural Dothan, Alabama, to the late Roy and Mildred (Mattox) Conner.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Richard O. Kasunic, whom she married on August 23, 1952, and passed away on May 19, 2016, As well as her daughter, Deborah Brown; her siblings, Marion “Bud” Conner and Mary Ella Conner; her brother-in-law, Patrick Sims.
She is survived by her daughter, Chevone (Joe) Singer of Greenville; her son-in-law, Allen Brown of Liberty Township, Ohio; her grandchildren, Angela (Gary) Slone of Gilbert, Arizona, Alyssa (Andrew) Carr of West Chester, Ohio, and Steven (Kristy Brewer) Singer of Fairborn, Ohio; her great grandchildren, Chandler and Maddox Carr; her dear friend, Christa Bingham; her adopted granddaughter, Faith Bingham; her siblings, Virginia “Jenny” Sims of Birmingham, Alabama, Glenda (Emil) Luft of Huntsville, Alabama, and Stanley Conner of Birmingham, Alabama; and her sister-in-law, Betty Ann “Pat” Conner of Decatur, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
June was a 1947 graduate of Dothan High School in Alabama. She then continued her education at Midway Junior College and Transylvania University, majoring in elementary education and music. June was a devoted kindergarten, first and second grade educator at various schools throughout Ohio for 27 years, until her retirement in 1991. Along with her general studies, June was passionate about sharing her love of music with her students. Along with her late husband, June was an active member of the New Madison United Methodist Church and served as the choir director for many years.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the New Madison United Methodist Church with Pastors David Richey and Carol Duffield officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery.
Guests may visit with June’s family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the church in New Madison.
