Kerry J. Young

Kerry J. Young, (68), died peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Piqua, Ohio. Kerry was born December 19, 1952, the son of Jason and Barbara Young.

Kerry was a 1971 graduate of Ansonia High School and served briefly in the United States Navy. Kerry was a veteran and served in Vietnam.

He was an avid horseman and, in the early 60s to the mid 70s, the family traveled all over the U.S. showing their Appaloosa horses, winning five state championships. He took a great deal of pride when, in 1966, he and his dad, Jason, won every award the Ohio Appaloosa Association had. In later years, he became passionate with harness racing and continued training horses until a tragic accident ended his passion.

Kerry was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He became an instant friend to everyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He never knew a stranger and will be missed by many whose lives he touched. He also had a deep love for animals of all shapes and sizes and he always seemed to find room to welcome one more homeless pet into their family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara A. Young. He is survived by his wife, Julia Young of Greenville; father, Jason (Delilah) Young of Ansonia; sister, Sherry Young of Gahanna, Ohio; son Jason (Valerie) Young of Northport, Alabama; son Kavan (Tonya) Young of Cedarbluff, Mississippi; daughter Jessica (Justin) Wofford of Steens, Mississippi; grandchildren Jason (Jake) Young, Kirklyn Young, Abigail Young, Hayden Wofford and Logan Wofford.
