LaRose Kathryn “Rosie” Boyer, age 90 of Greenville passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 at the Brethren’s Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on July 2nd, in Sidney to the late Ruben and Ruth (Flinn) Blakeley.
She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Greenville, Ohio where she used her faith to guide her actions and ministries.
After graduating from the Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with her RN degree, LaRose married Ralph James Boyer on September 12, 1954. She began her nursing career in the surgery department at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, Ohio and then later went to work for a family practice physician. When LaRose and her family moved to Greenville in 1968, she accepted a nursing position at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio. She retired from Rest Haven after a 28-year career, as the Director of Nursing. She was involved in the National Nursing Home Administration Committee and dedicated her career to providing caring and compassionate care to those she served.
LaRose’s husband preceded her in death in 2023 after 68 years of marriage. She is survived by three sons; Michael J (Lu Ann) Boyer of Greenville, Jeffrey J (Rhonda) Boyer of Rome, Georgia and Thomas J Boyer of Greenville. She was a proud and loving grandma of 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Amanda (Justin) Hines (Maleah and Mylee) of Greenville, Megan (Steven) Pagett (Willa and Asher) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andrea Boyer of Lewis Center, Ohio and Ryan (Noelle) Boyer (Nolan, Austin and Griffin of Havelock, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 7418 State Route 121, Greenville, OH 45331 at 9:00 am with the funeral service following at 10:00 am with Rev. Alliyah Greaver officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family following the service.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to St. John Lutheran Church or Everheart Hospice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.
