Larry Gene Thornhill

Larry Gene Thornhill, 79, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away early Monday morning, April 4, 2022, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

He was born on October 21, 1942, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late George K. and Mary E. (Marker) Thornhill.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, George William Thornhill, Douglas Thornhill, and Gregory Thornhill; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane (Gail Dean) Edwards.

Larry was born and raised in Darke County and was a life-long farmer. He was a life-time member of the NRA, enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a love of the outdoors. He retired from Corning Glass after 41 years of service and was a member of the Gettysburg Masonic Lodge #477. Larry had a love of old gas engines and tractors and was a life-time member of the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association. Larry was a family man, devoting countless hours to teaching and supporting his children and grandchildren, attending all their events and activities.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy (Parsons) Thornhill, whom he married on June 3, 1972; his sons, Ronnie (Carin) Thornhill of Anna, Ohio, and Gary Thornhill of Rossburg; his grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, and Brent of Anna; his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Cheryl Thornhill of New Carlisle, Ohio, Roxie Thornhill of Lightsville, Ohio, Dennis (Carolyn) Parsons of Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Janet Helmer of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Larry’s will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Barry Holter officiating. Burial will follow at Ansonia Cemetery.

Larry’s family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 6:45 PM, at which time a Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will be held, and again on Friday morning, from 9:30 until the time of the service.
