Larry Alan and Nancy Lee (Lesher) Szilagyi, ages 69 and 73 respectively, of Bradford, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023 from an accident.
Larry was born in Dayton on October 5, 1953 to John & Helene (Vass) Szilagyi; was a graduate of Northmont High School, Class of 1972; was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Midway; was employed at GTI, Greenville for 20 years; was a recipient of the Quilt of Valor; and enjoyed skydiving and being a private pilot; and loved reading books.
Nancy was also born in Dayton of May 14, 1949 to the (late) Chester Lee & Elaine Marie (Braithwaite) Lesher; was a graduate of Vandalia Butler High School, Class of 1967; during her high school years she was a member of the Kick Line; had worked for Miami County Community Action Agency; for years she played an active part of the Bradford High School Band and Flag Corp/Color Guard, also with the Band Boosters; and she was an avid seamstress.
Larry and Nancy were both member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Piqua Ward. They also enjoyed attending the grandkids sporting events.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, John and his brother, Joseph Szilagyi. He is survived by his mother, Helene Szilagyi of Centerville; son, Aaron Szilagyi and fiancée, Jamie Shellabarger of Troy; two step-sons, David & Lisa Zeh of Troy and Chris & Amy Zeh of Smiths Station, Alabama; Larry and Nancy’s nine grandchildren, Jaelee Zeh, Payton Zeh, Emmarie Zeh, Trace Zeh, Kelsey Zeh, Brady Szilagyi, Mia Hammons, Cade Zeh, and Meadow Hammons; three sisters, Christine & William Knapp of Lyons, CO, Gina & Greg Hester of Carlsbad, CA, Deborah & Gene Vance of Yellow Springs, OH; other relative and friends.
Nancy is survived by her three sons, David & Lisa Zeh, Chris & Amy Zeh, Aaron Szilagyi and fiancée, Jamie Shellabarger: one sister, Carol Sue LaRue of Fenton, MO; niece and nephew, Mike & DeeDee Stilwell of Arnold, MO, Karen & Kurt Speckhals of St. Charles, MO; other relative and friends.
Funeral Service 12 Noon Saturday at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford with Brother Stephen Beran officiating. Interment Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 AM until time of service.
