Leo L. Heitkamp age 66, of Versailles passed away at 6:29 pm Friday, December 3, 2021, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville.
Leo was born April 11, 1955, in Coldwater to the late Jerome “Jerry” & Mary Ann (Hilgefort) Heitkamp Sr. In addition to his parents, Leo was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melisa T. Ordean; and a grandson, Lance Humes.
Leo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen J. (Kunk) Heitkamp whom he married July 10, 1976; children, Kenneth “Chip” Ordean of Ft. Loramie, Michele & Don Waymire of Versailles, Matthew & Kendra Heitkamp of Versailles and Mitchell & Paige Heitkamp of Versailles; grandchildren, Paige Humes, Ashley (Clayton) Ward, Dylan (Alicia) Heitkamp, Jaydn Ordean, Noah (Elle Siculan) Waymire, Olivia Waymire, Daniel Waymire, Caleb Heitkamp, Jena Heitkamp, Ethan Heitkamp, Sadie Heitkamp, Ezekiel Heitkamp and Elijah Heitkamp; great-grandchildren, Aniyah Humes and Callan Humes; siblings, Theresa & Michael Fullenkamp of Ft. Recovery, Carol & Carl Evers of St. Henry, Barb & Bruce Batty of Tipp City, Diana & David Hartke of Coldwater, Linda & Dale Fleck of New Bremen, Rick & Margie Heitkamp of Versailles, Gary & Denise Heitkamp of Versailles and Jerry Heitkamp Jr. of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leo was a truck driver and farmer. He attended Living Waters Ministries in Versailles. Leo enjoyed riding his trike, watching his grandkids play sports and spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Versailles Christian Church 105 West Ward St. Versailles with Pastor Kelly Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Pearl Cemetery in Shelby County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church.
