Lois Lorraine Braund

September 3, 1934  –  April 25, 2023

Lois was born on September 3, 1934, in Eldorado, Ohio, to the late Homer Ross and Elma Mogle.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Braund, Sr.; her second husband, Frank Don Leas; her sister Margaret Alice Miles; and her stepfather, Hiram Mogle.

She is survived by her children, Gwen (Barry) Tinkle of New Madison, and Delbert (Karen) Braund, Jr. of Brookville, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Leslie) Tinkle of Enon, Ohio, and Matthew (Jessica) Tinkle of Saratoga, Indiana; her great grandsons, Dakota and Devin Tinkle; and many step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Lois also leaves behind her brother, Gene (Theresa) Mogle of West Alexandria, Ohio; her sisters, Carrie (Phillip) Coning of Eldorado, and Dora Spotts of New Madison; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Terry Daughtery, Sandra Beery, and Tamela Sparks.

Lois joined the United States Air Force following high school. She worked many years at Beckett Elevator, in New Madison, as the office manager. She was the New Madison Water Board Clerk for many years. She retired from Corning Glass Company in Greenville, Ohio, in 1993.

Lois was noted for her love of flowers and animals. Many people admired her flower gardens around her house as they drove past. She also knitted and crocheted baby blankets, booties, and hats for years for Wayne Healthcare Nursery, and enjoyed volunteering at Wayne Healthcare, for the last several years, in the gift shop.

Honoring Mother’s wishes there will be no formal service. Instead, we will welcome family and friends from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, May 12th, in the Social Room of the United Methodist Church located at 149 N. Main Street, New Madison, Ohio. Interment at the convince of the family will be at Otterbein Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Darke County Human Society at 7053 State Route 49, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
