Marilyn E. Hoehne York age 76, of Versailles passed away at 8:15 pm Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Marilyn was born August 19, 1946, in Dayton to the late William G. & Alice M. (Krug) Hibner Sr. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Cyril J. Hoehne; and in-laws, Dennis Greaney, Carl (Alberta) Hoehne, Urban Hoehne, Marlene Hoehne, Lawrence Hoehne Jr., and Edward Hoehne.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, James R. York whom she married June 14, 2014; two daughters, Suzy (Ted) Spanos of Pelzer, South Carolina and Tricia Hoehne of Cartersville, Georgia; four step-sons, Allen (Brenda), Bruce (Dawn), Chris (Lynda), of Versailles and Dan (Abby) York of Troy; six grandchildren, Caleb and Rachel Cochran, Mica Spanos, and Dakota, Dylan, Dawson, and Delaney Gulasa; nine step-grandchildren, Aaron (Cierra) York, Kori (Brandon) Saintignon, Ryan, Kristin, Alexis, Natalie, Emma, Mallory, and Danica York, and five step great grandchildren Levi, Isaac and Carson York and Rae Ann and Jadin Saintignon; siblings, William (Sandy) Hibner Jr. of Vandalia, Rosie Greaney of Dayton, and Walt (Joan) Hibner of Dayton; in-laws, Doris Hoehne of Fort Loramie, Frank (Carol) Hoehne of Sidney, Dorothy (Gene) Richard of Versailles, Paul (Connie) Hoehne of Houston, Virginia Hoehne of Fort Loramie, James (Mary) Hoehne of Fort Loramie, Janice (Leon) Stockman of Fort Loramie, Kathy Hoehne of Houston, David (Bonnie), Dennis (Trudy) Stephen (Bonnie) and Carl (Betty) York all of Russia, Rosalind (Charles) Olson of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Kathy (Robert) Frey of Versailles; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marilyn was an educator for 33 years in Ohio, Oklahoma and Georgia before retiring in 2007. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Friends of the Library and Retired Educators Association of Georgia. Marilyn loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling and reading.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 7, 2023, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown celebrant. Burial will follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Newport. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:30 pm and Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
