Marissa L. Portemont

Marissa Lynn Portemont, 17, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville.

She was born on December 1, 2005, in Greenville, Ohio, to Sarah (Hayes) Weyant of Greenville, and the late Christopher Portemont.

In addition to her mother, Marissa is survived by her stepfather, Jeff Weyant of Greenville; her siblings, Seth Portemont of Springfield, Ohio, Garrett Kaiser of Greenville, Gavin Kaiser of Greenville, Keegan (Addisyn Pitman) Portemont of Arcanum, Blake Weyant of Greenville, and Faith Weyant of Greenville; her niece and nephew, Ava and Nikolai; her grandparents, Mike and Terri Hayes of Arcanum, Margory Weyant of Union City, Ohio, and Kathy Portemont of Gordon; and her uncles and aunts, Jason and Missy Portemont of Arcanum and Jeni and CW Swihart of Pitsburg.

In addition to her father, Marissa, was preceded in death by her grandfathers, John Weyant and Billy Portemont.

Marissa just completed the 11th grade and started a job at the Brethren Retirement Community in the dietary department. She was beginning the process of becoming an STNA and had hopes of becoming a traveling nurse someday. Marissa loved animals and enjoyed playing with her cats and dogs. She also liked to listen to music, record the most recent trendy TikTok’s, ride dirt bikes and horses, and play video games with her friends. Marissa loved being outdoors and going camping and boating with her family. Of course, like any great sister, Marissa especially loved picking on her siblings. Her radiant smile, bubbly personality, and love for others will be deeply missed and remembered.

A celebration of Marissa’s life will take place at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Coleen Beasecker officiating.

Guests may visit with Marissa’s family on Thursday from 4:00 pm until the start of the service at 7:00 pm.

Due to her love of animals, memorial contributions may be given to the Darke County Humane Society.
