Marvin E. Goubeaux

Marvin E. Goubeaux age 95, of Versailles passed away peacefully at 12:08 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his home.

Marvin was born January 11, 1927, in Russia, to the late Edward & Emma (Grillot) Goubeaux and son-in-law to the late Joseph P. & Margaret (DeMange) Schieltz. In addition to his parents, Marvin was also preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Barbara L. (Schieltz) Goubeaux on February 14, 2021, whom he married June 8, 1950; a son, Doug Goubeaux; son-in-law, Lloyd Turner Jr.; siblings, Ambrose Goubeaux, Lowell Goubeaux, Cecil Goubeaux and Mary Lou (Goubeaux) Schulze; sisters-in-law,  Rita (Schieltz) Grogean, Ruth (Schieltz) Grogean Kahlig,  Matilda (Grogean) Schieltz, Lee (Hansen) Goubeaux, Virginia (Larger) Goubeaux, Joan (Kucko) Goubeaux and Virginia Schieltz in infancy; brothers-in-law, Cyril Grogean, Virl Grogean, Al Schulze, Jim Enneking and Edward Schieltz.

Marvin is survived by his children, Jan Turner of Versailles, Cindy (Goettemoeller) Goubeaux Geise of Coldwater, Kevin & Cheryl (Hehr) Goubeaux of Russia, Mark & Kimberly (Bakota) Goubeaux of Springboro and Melissa & Kaelin Turner of North Carolina; grandchildren, Jason & Jill Turner, Jeremy & Ariana Turner, Jared & Kylie Turner, Jessica & Bryan Eyink, Danielle & Vince Stinnett, Justin & Nicole Goubeaux, Larissa Goubeaux, Matthew & Jenna Goubeaux, Tyler Goubeaux, Erica Goubeaux, Craig & Michaela Goubeaux, Chad Goubeaux & fiancée, Amy Dirksing and Ayden Turner; great-grandchildren, Emerson Turner, Samuel Turner, Liam Turner, Grant Turner, Henry Turner, Caroline Turner, Lauren Turner, Camille Turner, Nicholas Turner, Brennin Eyink, Connor Eyink, Bailee Eyink, Easton Eyink, Kinslee Eyink, Cohen Eyink, Briggs Eyink, Parker Goubeaux, Owen Goubeaux, Kaylee Goubeaux, Natalie Goubeaux, Alexis Goubeaux, Lillian Goubeaux and Graham Goubeaux; brother, Dale Goubeaux of Tallmadge; sister, Carolyn (Goubeaux) Enneking of Minster; sister-in-law, Virginia (Gasson) Goubeaux of Versailles; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marvin retired from Clopay (Francis Overhead Doors) with 25 years of service and was a lifelong farmer. He was mechanically talented having refurbished many vehicles as a winter hobby. There was never a situation in which he couldn’t fix or repair an item. For enjoyment, he loved to play gin rummy and euchre, cherished giving his dogs gator rides and their companionship. He was like a second father to many relatives who had lost their loved ones. Marvin was a faithful and active member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles attending Mass daily and serving on the church council. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.     

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles. It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions may be made to Versailles Emergency Medical Services or Darke County Endowment Fund for young seminarians. A special thank you to the many caregivers who so lovingly provided care for both Marvin’s and Barbara’s journey to heaven.
