MARCH 13, 1955 – SEPTEMBER 7, 2024
Mary Elaine (Wilt) Vallandingham passed away on September 7, 2024, in Piqua, Ohio. She was born on March 13, 1955, in Troy, Ohio, to Dale and Mary Emma (Kester) Wilt. She grew up in West Milton, Ohio, and moved with her family to Cincinnati, where she attended Withrow High School. Mary was the beloved mother of Joshua Paul and his wife, Lora (Grillot) Vallandingham. She was the proud grandmother of four granddaughters, Emma Rose, Hannah Marie, Olivia Nicole, and Sophia Lynn. She is survived by her brother Thomas Dale and sister-in-law Alice Wilt, sister Linda Lucille (Wilt) Wagner, brother-in-law Richard Barker, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Sue Ellen (Wilt) Barker and her parents. Mary worked hard at numerous jobs throughout her life. She served her community for many years as a volunteer EMT in Greenville and Union City, Ohio. Later, she used these skills in her career as a phlebotomist and dialysis technician.
Mary was very talented at crocheting and knitting and enjoyed gifting her creations to her family and friends. She loved music, and she played the piano and sang in the choir in her youth. Mary’s home was filled with her collection of angels, and she was comforted by the thought of her guardian angel watching over her. Her favorite time of the year was autumn, and she loved taking long drives to look at the fall leaves. Mary touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a celebration of Mary’s life to follow at noon at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.zecharbailey.com for the Vallandingham family.
