Matthew Edward Hiestand, 43, of Union City, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at his home.
He was born on August 8, 1979, in Greenville, Ohio, and was the son of Cyril “Cy” and Deborah Hiestand of Ansonia, Ohio.
Matt is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nicole (Klingshirn) Hiestand, whom he married on June 17, 2000; his children, Mason, Mattie, Evan and Owen Hiestand; his sister, LeAnn (Jonas) Foote of Fort Recovery; his father and mother-in-law Paul and Sherry Klingshirn of Fort Recovery; his in-laws, Amy (Doug) Albers of St. Henry, Chad (Samantha) Klingshirn of Union City, Ohio, and Seth Klingshirn of Fort Recovery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Matt was a 1998 graduate of Mississinawa Valley High School. He loved animals and raising his turkeys. Matt also worked for Veterinary Poultry Supply for the past seven years as a sales manager, and often times helped at the Union City County Club. Matt was a member of the Union City Elks, Lodge 1534, and a member of the Mississinawa Valley School District Board of Education.
When Matt was not working or volunteering in his community, he could be found out at the lake riding his boat with his family and friends. He also enjoyed hanging out with his best friends, Ismael and Nichole Anguiano. Matt took great pride on how his home and farm looked. He was always working out in the yard and the garden. It was not uncommon to find him riding down to his parent’s house to check in and grab a drink of sweet tea. Family was the most important thing to Matt. He loved being with them and spoiling them.
A celebration of Matt’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Teegarden Cemetery.
